“This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain. We're looking forward to coming back and staying again, as the plans for new menus sound fantastic.
Room sizes and facilities are very adequate for a short stay. The location is very central for the surrounding walks,...

“I stayed at the Tavern for one night Monday 6/10/25 prior to attending a funeral.
I had read previous reviews criticising road noise. Whilst it was heard,I didn’t find it an issue at all. Had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed.
Superb bathroom- i loved the large soaker tub- hard to find a room with bath these days.
Staff were very friendly and food was hot and tasty with portions on the large side!
Would definitely stay here again.”

“Our first time in a pod but we loved it. We stayed with our two young children, who were sad to leave! The pod was clean, cosy, had everything you need and on a quiet but secure site. We booked very last minute but had an easy check in with great communication from hoasts. Would come again x”

“Delightful managers and staff, ready and eager to help. The room (3) itself was beautiful and cosy. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedsheets smelled lovely. The shower was amazing, the bathroom gorgeous. The general decor of the room and bathroom were lovely. I would definitely stay here again! Unfortunately I didn’t have time (I was working) to sample the food, but I definitely will next time!
