Charming stone house in the Historic centre of St Remy de Provence

The Petit Puit is midway down a quiet meandering lane in the very centre of town a short stroll away from the boutiques, restaurants and cafes, for which St Remy is renowned.

The house dating from 1750 has beamed ceilings, a winding stone staircase and exposed stone walls and quirky niches. lounge with Sat TV, WiFi, DVD, large stone fireplace with woodburner, spacious kitchen/dining room with fridge, cooker/stove and dining table with seating for 5.

Shower room fully tiled with walk in shower. Bedroom with Air Conditioning and featuring a King size bed and pretty painted wardrobe.

The house is across from a small leafy square. The ground floor comprises entrance into living room with open stone fireplace, leading to hallway and bathroom. On through is the spacious kitchen/diner. Stone staircase leads to bedroom with king size bed, 1 chest of drawers and wardrobe.
To the rear of the bedroom is a door leading to outside space suitable for drying towels/clothes.

Free parking is available close to the house.

St Remy, birthplace of Nostradamus and home to Vincent Van Gogh while he was in the sanatorium here. This was the psychiatric hospital where VanGogh committed himself after he cut his own ear off. Here, he did more than 100 pieces of art, many of which were his most important and most famous paintings. This is a 'must-see' for the area. It’s a self-guided walking tour with placards in English.

You can see the actual walls and gardens in the spots that inspired Van Gogh. There are placards that show a copy of his painting, in the spot where he stood to paint it. This allows you to compare the painting to how the exact spot looks today. For many spots, the similarities are amazing.

Adorable house in perfect location
If you are planning a 1-2 week trip to Provence and need to identify a base from which to explore, there is no better location than Saint Remy de Provence and Tim & Jenny's one-bedroom 18th century cottage in the historic centre of town is both adorable and convenient. Our hosts met us when we arrived and were available and responsive throughout our 10-night stay. Free parking is a 5-minute walk away. The kitchen is fully equipped, though there is an abundance of nearby charming cafes and restaurants and a weekly Saint Remy market with the finest fresh produce. You do need to be aware that the bedroom is separated from the bathroom by a staircase. That was not a problem for us as we were adequately forewarned. The bathroom is modern and well-appointed with a walk-in shower. They have lots of books in their library and a nice music sound system.

A Week in St Remy
The house is right in the centre of St Remy, so you can walk to everything. Tim & Jenny were very good at answering our questions before arrival. At check-in they helped us with our luggage, recommended restaurants & showed us the best places to park - all really helpful. There is more to see in St Remy than we thought, the town, bars, cafes & restaurants are the main attractions, but market day very vibrant and roman ruins & Van Gogh trail are all easily accessed and well worth a visit.

Perfect Sanctuary in Saint-Remy
We could not have picked a better spot for our week in Saint-Remy. The house is charming, cozy, and located in the heart of town, minutes (if that long) from all the essentials. Tim and Jenny went out of their way to welcome us at the beginning of our stay. When we come back to Provence, we'll definitely be looking to stay here again.

Your delightful accommodations are a part of the medieval structures in town. Three great bakeries in walking distance. AC in the bedroom was appreciated. Laundromat was a few blocks away.

A great location in Saint Remy
The apartment is in a great location in the old town, less than a minute’s walk to supermarket, boulangerie, cafes, shops and Wednesday market. The stone stairs to the bedroom were not a problem. We stayed for a week and really appreciated the convenience of the location. The free parking station is a 5 minute walk away and there is 45 min free parking close by for unloading and loading luggage. You can also take advantage of free parking between 7pm and 9am around the corner. The apartment is as it appears in the photos, the bedroom is roomy and light. If, however, you are claustrophobic the lack of windows in the kitchen and bathroom may prove difficult. Thank you Timothy and Jenny for your hospitality.

We had a lovely stay in this charming apartment conveniently located in the heart of St. Remy. The apartment had everything we needed, including Wi-Fi, TV options in English, fully equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bed. Our interactions with our hosts were truly delightful. Authentically Provence
This was an incredible experience staying in this property! What a privilege! Very authentic. We felt like we had our own little medieval mini castle withe stone walls and stone stairway. The air conditioning in the bedroom made it very comfortable and the rest of the place never got warm and we had hot weather for our visit. The modern bathroom was a treat too. It was magical really. The hosts were very lovely and responsive to us. They left us many helpful items to get started like milk, coffee, tea, and a bottle of rose. It was an excellent central location for touring Provence. And St. Remy is a wonderful little laid back village to come back to in the evenings. Many wonderful shops and restaurants. Many great memories were made here. Would love to come back to this house again! One potential negative. The bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. So middle of the night trips could be difficult for some.

Wonderful little house in a brilliant location
We stayed here for 10 days during the heat-wave, the house was comfortable and cosy and the air-conditioning in the bedroom was a fantastic bonus during the heat! Our little dog Buster was very grateful for it too! The kitchen is well-stocked with equipment and the wet-room shower is lovely and new. The location for site-seeing is fantastic and the square has been recently landscaped and is quiet and very pretty. Jenny was fantastic, welcoming, friendly and charming and really couldn't do enough to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Sadly, we didn't get to meet Tim but he conversed with me prior to our stay and was equally charming and informative. We would highly recommend this characterful little house ( really, not so little ) for anyone - especially those looking for a base to site-see the lovely town of St. Remy and the surrounding towns and countryside.

Tres Fantastique!
The apartment is beautiful! I very much appreciated the air conditioning during the warm summer days in enchanting St. Remy. :-) The square in which it is located is quiet, but also central to all the main streets in town. The grocery store is literally around the corner, as is access to the main market on Wednesdays. Jenny was a wonderful host; friendly and helpful! I would definitely stay here again. Merci Beaucoup! Bisous!

St Remy base for regional visits
We booked 6 nights to use the unit as a base for day trips in and around St. Remy, and this worked wonderfully for us. The unit was described as 15 century vintage. It definitely has that historic charm, but it also has all modern updates for kitchen and bath and everything, including wi-fi, worked perfectly. Our hosts could not have been more gracious and accommodative and easy to reach, and we were thankful for their consideration of a change we had to make to our plans at the end of our stay. The unit is located in the center circle of town and extremely convenient for restaurants, shopping, the Wednesday market and a few museums. All the enticements of St. Remy are within walking distance. The large and comfortable bedroom is on the 2nd floor up a narrow 15 step staircase. This was a bit difficult to manage with our suitcases and inconvenient for nighttime bathroom use. Street parking was nearby on the ring road, but you have to pay at a pay station to park between 9 AM and 7 PM. Free parking is available about a 10 minute walk away. We took a number of day trips to areas up to an hour away by car and thoroughly loved our stay in St. Remy at this unit. One note of possible concern is that a building pictured across the street from the unit has been torn down. The site is fenced off, and there are new apartment units planned to be constructed, though the project has been delayed. While we couldn't give this a full five star rating, it was definitely a 4.5 for us.

Fabulous welcome from our hosts, Jenny and Tim, and a lovely place to spend time in St. Remy. We were only here three nights and we wish we could have stayed longer! The house is a perfect combination of old and new -- a charming, historic dwelling with all the modern conveniences. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking if you wish, and everything is spotless. A great spot for enjoying St. Remy and beyond. Hope we can return soon -- thank you, Jenny and Tim!

Great Accommodation & Great Town
Tim & Jenny’s apartment was wonderful. It was clean, comfortable and very unique. The location is great as there are restaurants and shops right outside the door. We stayed for 12 days and did some fabulous day trips - all within and hour’s drive from St Remy. Jenny met us when we arrived and personally showed us all of the features of the apartment. Because we were staying 12 days, she also insisted on bringing us some clean towels mid-way through our stay. All in all, it is a perfect place to base a trip to Provence out of.

Cozy perfectly located authentic flat
This flat was located in a friendly neighborhood within steps of galleries, cafes, shops - everything wonderful in St. Remy du Provence. Everything we needed was supplied. When we arrived, Jenny had milk, water, cookies and a bottle of wine waiting for us. We loved the bedroom with large sunny window in the morning, a canopy bed, beautifully painted armoir, and an entire wall of bookshelves. The stone walls gave us the feeling we had stepped back in time. The room glowed in the evening when the lights were on. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook and charmingly decorated. We loved the bathroom with heated towel rack and open shower. We enjoyed breakfast in the sunny living room and had a picnic lunch on a bench in the charming square steps away from the front door on several occasions. Jenny and Tim were great hosts! We highly recommend their place.

Perfection in Provence!
We could not have found a better location or apartment from which to enjoy Provence! St Remy was ideally situated to visit everything in the western region of the whole area and was a gem into itself. Plenty to do in the center village but the apartment was quiet, peaceful and a joy to stay in. Tim and Jenny have created a great experience for their guests. Now, full disclosure, if you have difficulty handling two story living, this may not be the place for you. Bedroom is on the 2nd floor, bathroom on the first, winding stone stairs. No problem for us, in fact, we slept like babies here. Dark and quiet and great to wake up here and throw open the shutters and windows and walk to the local boulangerie about 50 meters away. Great pastries, bread, quiche! One of those places that makes you wonder why you didn't book it for a month.

Wonderful place!
We loved staying at Petit Puits during our 5 day visit to Provence. It is a beautiful old home ideally located in the heart of St Rémy, walking distance to amenities and really great restaurants. Jenny is a wonderful host, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She even took the time to post a new shirt we accidently left behind. We highly recommend this place and hope to come back one day!
