Cliff House Inn On The Ocean

8/10 Good

"Loved the intimacy of the hotel grounds on the ocean. The Shoals restaurant was delightful. But breakfast was just so so. And their lack of food on Monday and Tuesday was inconvenient so we went to Carpenteria and had a great time. However they really need upkeep on the grounds. Dead branches, flowers, weeds and lawn need attention. In the rooms, curtains and furniture need repair. Enjoyed our stay."

"It’s a hidden gem! Very clean property with delightful staff. I loved the pool though it was impossible to order food from there which was unfortunate. I went to the bar on the property and ordered tacos to go and after waiting 20 minutes, the beef was charred, they forgot the beans and it was not appetizing. The complimentary breakfast was good enough to get you on the road early. The property is old but very well maintained. Parking was super easy and free. I wish the bathroom had a makeup mirror and the toilet seats weren’t so low. Other than that, I’d absolutely stay there again."

"We had a wonderful stay at Amanzi Hotel and truly enjoyed the property, location, and nearly every interaction with the staff. Unfortunately, one experience with a front desk employee significantly affected how we felt during the remainder of our stay. We approached him to ask whether the FIFA game would be shown in the dining area. He stared at us in a way that felt intimidating, gave only a one-word response, and was extremely unfriendly. When I politely asked for his name, he responded, “Mr. Thomas,” and immediately demanded to know my name in a tone that felt threatening. The entire interaction made me feel genuinely uncomfortable and concerned for my family’s safety. I was too uneasy to raise the matter with management while we were still staying at the hotel, and we intentionally avoided this employee for the rest of our visit. Everyone else we encountered was welcoming and wonderful, and everything else about our stay was excellent. Without this experience, I would have gladly returned. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and looks into the matter so other guests do not feel intimidated or unsafe."
