"First the good. The room inside was clean and prepared, and look like thebroom had been realcently refreshed. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Nowbthe reason why I gave it only three stars instead of the typical five-star rating that we have given them many times in the past. The hotel started a remodel that, from what we've heard, went longer than expected. Floors two and three were recently completed and they were actively working on floor one. Unfortunately, it looked like they hadn't fully completed floors two and three. There were stains or small pieces of drywall and dust on the hallway carpet, missing chair rail boards along the hallway, and it looked like they had prepped for painting but had not finished the patching or painting. If I was the owner or manager, I think I would have insisted that the work stopped on the first floor and completely finished the second and third floor so they were up to their usually-high standard. I get they want to get the first floor done so they can rent the rooms out but that shouldn't be done at the expense of the customer experience on the second and third floor. Was it enough to dissuade us from staying there in the future? Probably not. We love the staff and the way they greet and interact with people. However, we had family in town staying in a different hotel, and we may consider that one in the future. There stay was less pricey and probably at a little higher standard than ours."
