All in all a great property, well stocked and clean The screens on the windows and doors could do with some maintenance as mosquitoes and midges were able to enter the house Also the keys and locks were very difficult to unlock the doors ..

No hanging space for clothes , wardrobe unable to open. No cupboards to put food in. All cupboards too full. Very strong dog odour in bedroom. Back door so hard to open with key. Booked 4 nights, only slept one night, stayed with family at caravan park. Very old and worn linen.

Hi Rodney and Lisa, I'm sorry you were disappointed. It's a pity you didn't reach out to us or our caretaker during your stay, as some of these issues are easily resolved. While we do allow dogs, we do ask our guests to not have dogs in the bedroom for this very reason. The linen was all replaced in March of this year.

We were so impressed with Wooli and The Purple Place that we cannot wait to get back there. The house was just lovely with all of the comforts of home in a prime position on the beach. My kids also said that they were really sad to leave as this was the perfect family holiday and to top it off we could have our dog Bella stay with us. We will be back!

Overall a nice place with a lovely view from the duneside table up from the back gate. Beach access a few doors down was convenient. Disappointing that I was told the bath wasn’t operational after I paid. It was a main selling point for me. I’ll be back when they get that fixed. It would be great if other maintenance issues could be addressed and the grounds maintained because struggling to operate locks/stove/open windows etc took away from an otherwise charming, relaxed, old fashioned vibe. I did appreciate the library and board games.

Location made in heaven
We loved our stay in beautiful Wooli. The purple house is an oldie but a goody and great value for money in this lovely location. Ammenities like a well fenced yard and proximity to everything made it perfect for our pooches as well as us. A coffee or glass of wine on our private table on the sand dunes was a great way to start and finish the day. There was everything needed in the property to relax in a funky little home away from home. My partner and I along with our pugs and Pomeranian can’t wait to come back. The only little bit of feedback was that the property could have been cleaner but hey we were too chilled out to worry!

The accommodation was fine, quiet, well positioned, clean, rustic and we enjoyed our stay. Luckily had read previous comments and brought toilet paper, tea towels, Chux towels for wiping down benches an bathroom.

Shame there is no direct beach access and the shade tree has been cut down from the back yard. The path to the beach table is treacherous and has no lighting. All in all though it was a pleasant place to stay, the house contained everything needed and was comfortable.

Lovely Home away from Home. Id like to report the Internet wasn't working and the DVD player was knackered and Dish washer was out of service too. I rigged up a Hot spot from my phone for Internet and that kept my lady happy:-) Also the left hand front bedroom window lock is missing a clasp to lock the window so might be best to address that for your security reasons, I told the Handyman that made the dog fence and mowed the lawns with reference to the window lock. Thank you so much again for entrusting your house to us, we left it very very clean. I wish for you both Good Fortunes, Good Health and Good Times.

Thanks John, good news, the wifi just needed to be reset and is working again now. The dishwasher was blocked (please rinse plates before stacking the dishwasher) and is also working again and the gate has been repaired. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, we'll see you again soon.

Purple place stay
Great location and loved the retro feel of the place. The picnic table on the dune was a wonderful spot for whale watching and we really appreciated the binoculars. My only feedback- the house could have been cleaner ( eg: dirty window sills with dead insects etc). Was also disappointed that the yard was missing the front gate so we had to keep our old dog on a leash for the duration of the stay. Hope the feedback is useful. Terri

Lovely, old-school beach house
Perfectly simple, old-school beach holiday. So lovely to get away somewhere so quiet and relaxed. Loved the ocean on the back door and the sounds of the sea. Highly recommend getting up for sunrise - just perfect, thank you :)

Great , relaxing beachfront spot.
Great weekend here. Quirky beach shack. Loved Wooli and the fabulous beach front location. Would be ideal if the house had beach access from the dunes , but access is only a short walk down the road, about 3 houses away, so still close. Tidy , but I think it needs a really good deep clean and lots of maintenance needed. The beautiful sleepy town location reminds me of beach holidays as a child. Lots of fun here. Thank you .

Perfect Beach Holiday House
We had the perfect relaxing break by the beach. On arrival the house was spotlessly clean and tidy. The location was right on the beach with a fully fenced yard for the dogs. We watched the sunrise each morning from the excellent vantage point up behind the house and spent hours there with the telescope watching fishing boats, dolphins and whales. Heaps of 'toys' in the shed to use -fishing rods, surfboards, kayaks, goggles & flippers which we used. Recommend a meal at Harrys Chinese restaurant at the bowling club just a few minutes walk down the road.The bistro at the hotel on the way into Wooli was also great for fresh oysters and a cold beer. Also went for a drive to Diggers Camp for safe swimming and a snorkel-just gorgeous. Would recommend taking in your food supplies as the one local shop is expensive, but good for emergencies. This was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had (we went mid week) and we will be back.

Post lockdown in the purple place
The house is the quintessential beach shack. Loads of shade in the yard which is a bonus. Wooli itself is an adorable town perched close to the illaroo national park campground and Sandon river. There was a bit of confusion about pets, just to be clear the website says pets inside ok, just not in bedrooms or on furniture. There is a notice in the house saying pets not allowed inside. The yard was secure enough, however we needed to lean something against the entry gates to ensure our dogs couldn't get out. Loved our stay, comfortable beds, great location. There are very limited eating out options in Wooli. Even though the Chinese is pretty good, and you can get basics at a premium from the general store, bring what you need.

Always lovely- great location
This is our second time at the purple place and we love it. This time with our two tween children and grandparents. Plenty of room, comfortable and great being so close to walkway to the beach. Watching dolphins from up on the terrace was a favourite this time. A classic beach house- relaxed vibe and everything you need. We will be back!

Great family friendly house.
Great family friendly place. Perfect for kids. We took two dogs as well it was great. House was simple and a little quirky reminded me of my childhood. The only down side was the noisy neighbours. Who were also there on holiday.

Lovely retro bach. Brought back childhood memories of beach holidays in small town NZ. Spacious house, comfy beds , great aircon in kitchen and especially loved the picnic table above the beach for morning coffees and evening wines.

A beach holiday from the past.
The purple place is laid back and very comfortable. It reminded us of our holiday trips with family when we were young. The house is clean and well stocked. The location us amazing. Up the back you watch the weather roll in across the long wild beach. A short drive and you can swim under the guise of life guides and then wash off the sand in the lagoon. We stayed with two little dogs and while they spent their time outside they were able to come, on leads, to beaches. Take your food etc, this is a home cooked sand in your bed type break.

Just what we needed
The Purple Place was delightful, comfortable and is perfectly located. Everyone agreed that the only problem with it was that we hadn't booked for long enough. Fiona was such a great host and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It is worth noting the yard is very pet friendly, but you need to keep your dog outside all the time. But the yard is big and has a big shady tree and great table and chairs, so it was very easy for us to spend most of our time outside.

We stayed for 4 nights. The table up from back yard overlooking ocean was the highlight of our visit. Was so peaceful and relaxing overlooking the ocean in your own private setting with a coffee. The house had everything we needed. Was very cosy and we loved every minute we were there. The only thing we got caught out by was the local fish and chip shop only cooked on weekends and school holidays. So bring your own food as back up. Highly recommend staying at the Purple House.

Disappointment at The Purple Place
The cottage is very old though clean with modern electrical appliances. The photos published on the website do not reflect the property - the backyard was mostly dirt with an old shed, and very unattractive BBQ area - not clean and painted as in the pictures. The house is not on the beach but is located on the road that runs parallel. There is no access to the beach from the back gate but out to the dunes. On arrival we found the TV antenna blown down but the owner did arrange for someone to come and fix it. The beds are not made though linen is provided. The place to us was a little reminiscent of a school excursion retreat. Overall we were very disappointed and we cut our stay short - the owner did graciously understand and we came to an arrangement in regard to our early departure.

Family getaway at Wooli
The Purple Place is a rustic/retro cottage. Great location perched right behind the sand dune with magic views over the Pacific Ocean out to the Solitary Islands. Very close walk to the river, the bowlo, beach access, tennis courts and parks. The cottage is comfortable for a family and is equipped with just about everything you need. If anything just a little more attention to cleanliness would be welcomed. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at the Purple Place. Thank You

Wooli is a step back in time
Seeking an experience that reflected my childhood holidays at the beach. The Purple Place was just the perfect abode. Back to basics. Comfortable and pleasant. The table on the dunes was magic - whale watching and star gazing was the best! Wooli is a beautiful and peaceful step back in time. The deserted beach and pristine river provided many activities - long walks, watching wildlife, fishing, kayaking. A real break from the fast pace of a busy world. A reminder of nature and how lucky we are to spend time in the natural beauty of this sleepy coastal town.

Beach shack vibe
This beach side property is nestled in right behind the sand dunes with direct access to the wide open beaches. Makeshift screen door wasn't quite up to the task but the rest of the basics where covered pretty well. Great location and the dogs loved the fenced backyard.
