"There was a fight across the hall for an hour with yelling and door slamming. A staff member did come up after a couple of us on the floor called but the couple were leaving the room by that point. It’s not the hotel, but rather who stays there that is a bit scary. "

"The staff is very helpful and friendly. They answered all my questions. My stay here was wonderful. Very quiet. The breakfast is very good and the coffee is excellent. I will definitely return."

"There was a noticeable amount of men's facial hair (from shaving) on the tissue box holder and the bathroom vanity. The kitchenette was not clean - there were crumbs and a small amount of trash on the floor and counter, and grease/cooking oil on the exterior of the stove and a countertop, as well as a small hardened spill on the kitchen floor. The kitchen faucet had something all over it. When I checked out, I asked to speak with the manager but was told she was not in. I briefly explained the specific instances of uncleanliness and left my phone number so the manager could respond. So far, I have heard nothing. I realize that it is an extended stay hotel and that people prepare meals in their room; however, someone on the first floor had fried fish and the odor was very strong when I left the hotel. It still smelled terrible when I returned a few hours later!"

"First, the good: The hotel building is quite lovely and the staff are friendly and professional. My room was very well-kept and pleasant enough. But now, the not-so-good: First the lights work with a series of 'master switches' that are indistinguishable from the ordinary switches. Before you turn on the bedroom light, you have to find the master for that switch, which can be tough when you've just arrived and it's pitch black. I never did find the master for the writing desk where the all-important coffee-maker lay. I had to lift it off the desk and put it on the floor across the room to plug it in. On top of that, the shower (there's no bath) drained way too slowly. It took less than 15 minutes for the water to rise past my ankles and soon after, I had to stop showering because I feared the rising water would flood the bathroom. Now, as to the breakfast . . . there was no breakfast. This possibility never dawned on me , as the room cost nearly $200 and, for that price, they could at least put out some muffins. The best thing about the Andover Inn: It's a very short walk to the Addison Gallery, which is free, and has beautiful paintings by some of the greatest American artists of the 20th century -- Homer, Eakins, Hopper and many more. The neighborhood is also gorgeous."
