Staff is super friendly and helpful, but you need to ask for what you want. Property is dated and definitely needs upkeep, but for Costa Rica it is a little Gem. They have some resident stray dogs and cats who are super friendly but if you don’t like animals, maybe it’s not the place for you. Food and drinks were delicious! Highly recommend the nachos ;) The beach is beautiful but waves are crazy and could kill you! Wonderful to sit and watch the waves or walk the beach and find treasures. Beds were comfortable and there were some English movies. If you want a hot shower- do it first thing in the morning! The monkeys tend to visit the Java apple tree on the property in the late afternoon and give you a show. Full kitchen in the room if you want to make your own food. Overall we had a great relaxing stay, drove to Manuel Antonio and Jaco beach was close enough for day trips - also rainmaker park was lovely and close too. We recommend this hotel for those who enjoy a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle - it’s tranquil and you can be at peace on the beach without anyone else around. If you can learn some basics in Spanish it will help you communicate with staff but they do speak English and will teach you some Spanish ;) Hotel Cocomar met our expectations and we hope others give it a chance as it deserves to be experienced.
