Overall the hotel is clean and well kept. My only minor issue was that the room had a bad smell, which I think was because it had been locked up all summer and I was likely the first guest since last snow season (~8 months).

Stayed at the Duck Inn for 3 nights. Overall the venue itself, whilst renovated, is quite dated. But it’s cozy and the staff are lovely - except maybe at times there isn’t enough of them so cleaning up may be lagging (breakfast time). The sound travels (often heard people walking above us) but we had a baby so used a white noise machine and it was fine. The room we stayed in was super clean and comfortable - even the heating was super warm that we didn’t even need doonas! The restaurant downstairs offers delicious food for dinner but their continental breakfast could use some love - perhaps throw in some bakery goods and pastries and some cheeses or something - pretty basic esp for those staying more than one night. But overall somewhat over-priced for what it is - would rate it a 3 star. If you are looking for somewhere cozy to stay on the mountain that won’t break the bank and you don’t mind basic - this is your place!

Room 204 has a good view and is warm enough. I would suggest the common area can open during the daytime; breakfast time may open at 7:00 or 7:30 for someone who wants to start skiing earlier

the property was bigger than my expectation. bathroom was clean, shower was hot. Cant really complaint much about the room. The only downside is the dinning restaurant was closed on Monday and the location is a bit far from the village.

We agree with you, it is unreasonable for staff to want to have one day off a week. They should work 7 days a week so the restaurant can be open all all nights.

The room was clean and comfortable in great condition.
The breakfast supplied was terrible, cold pancakes, instant coffee and white bread for some toast. And during the day you couldn't access the bar or coffee machine whilst waiting for transports or having some down time. As a hotel and not serviced apartments I would expect more options available to you as there are no microwaves or fridges in the room.
Overall disappointed.

Our room size is exactly as advertised. If you would like a bigger room, please book one with your required size.
The sun is much hotter in Alpine region so if you would like the room to be cooler - just open the window or turn down the heating.
We knew coming in the room was small, that has no issue here.
It feels as though the business model is pay us and leave us alone.
Everything was too hard from from arrivals to departure and breakfast.

Check in is 4pm and checkout is 10am. Breakfast is a simple breakfast - tea, coffee, cereals, toast, juices, condiments from 07:45 to 09:00.

We provide Alpine Accommodation facilitating the ski/snowboard experience.
Our guests spend most of their time on the slopes.
If you require spacious accommodation, please book an apartment rather than an Alpine Hotel Room.
The lady property manager was pretty rude. For a 1st time traveler to Buller, she didn’t make it a nice one. Message the hotel for an early check-in request but no reply. A firm no when we arrived 2 hours earlier ahead of check-in time at 4pm. Upon check-out, left our bags at the storage. Came back from lunch to claim our bags but the reception was closed. No signage or anything. Rang bell and called and took nearly 30 minutes for someone to come to our rescue.

We are sorry that we were not able to provide you with early check in. To safeguard you, the Victorian Government COVID19 cleaning directions require that the rooms are disinfected in particular way and time. It would be irresponsible for us to check you into a room that is yet to be disinfected.
Mt Buller is obviously an expensive resort so you will not find a bargain anywhere here. That said, for the high cost of this hotel you would expect a better breakfast - more than just toast and cereal. The bed was comfy enough but only one slim pillow each isn't enough so I didn't sleep particularly well.
Overall the hotel is fine, OK, average, "meh" and I wouldn't complain if it was cheap but it's not.

Our breakfast is EXACTLY as advertised. If you would like something else please choose a property that advertises your requirements rather than complain that you would like something that is not advertised.
Our pricing is very competitive and that is why you have chosen us over other venues.
If you require additional pillows, blankets, towels etc, a request at the time of staying would have been immediately fulfilled. Complaining about it after you have left the venue will not get you the pillow.

Peaceful location. Good size room. Onsite rental equipment was good.
Disappointing breakfast ( no hot food ). Would have expected that for the five star price. No free hotel shuttle for baggage.
Overall staff were friendly and helpful. But the hotel is too expensive for what is provided.
Peacefulness comes at a cost of a fairly long walk with baggage to terminal and ski area.

Enjoyed our stay
We had an enjoyable three night stay at The Duck Inn. Overall we would give it a 7/10. Our room was very basic and small and could only just fit one suitcase however it didn’t bother us too much as we were on the ski fields most of the time. Bonus points to be able to hire all the ski gear and equipment there without having to go into town.
We were advised of the basic continental breakfast however we thought it was a bit too basic. Although it was continental, perhaps some more choices all round would result in greater satisfaction especially if you’re skiing all day.
Samy from France seemed like the only staff member that knew what was going on. He was very friendly and helpful and deserves a payrise. Please pass on our feedback.

Comfortable stay on mountain, nice modern room, very friendly staff, storage room for ski equipment plus a nice breakfast room (and restaurant at night).

The property where we lived the supervisor was very rude .Despite being in hospitality she was so rude.Before booking we asked if there are any gluten free options they said they have and we just found Meusli with soy milk.On requesting they Adviced us to go to village shop and get Almond milk and eggs they could cook.
The next day the supervisor told no outside food allowed and they can't cook for us.
Being a continental breakfast and expensive 2 night stay they even could not accomodate any request what guest were asking.The toilet doors were broken and the soap and shampoo were empty they forgot to fill up.
The meal for dinner was expensive too but as you got no choice you should suck it up.
I really had a terrible experience in this place.
If the supervisor was not that rude and even the staff got no clue what they were doing.
Breakfast was included but there was no gluten free or even a single egg dish.
I really want my money back for ruining my holiday.

We are surprised that you found a "stag" in our ski shop. At times we have alpine pygmy possums what make their way from outside, but to date we have not seen a stag. Fridge is available on request. Conditional breakfast is complimentary and there are no cooking facilities.
Room servicing was not regular- ran out of toilet paper and had no hand soap, but was rectified quickly once mentioned to staff although it was initially unclear if rooms were serviced.
Breakfast was disappointing with cutlery running out (on more day than one) and staff seeming one step behind in re-stocking food etc....which is a shame because this experience kept us from dining in the restaurant for dinner until the last night of our stay.
The Drake restaurant’s dinner service was excellent with professional service and the food was amazing- 5 stars and was totally unexpected after our breakfast experience.
As breakfast is included I think they would benefit from showing the same level of attention to detail and professionalism that their restaurant provides in the evening- we would probably have eaten there sooner and definitely more than once!

the place was pretty old and rundown, the room was small, the shower was dangerous, there was no power point in the bathroom, towels were thin, two hangers only in the cupboard, the breakfast was minimal, and for this price I would expect a lot more.

We think you must be talking about a different venue or you expectations are of 5 star hotels in the major cities.
Duck Inn has been build 5 years ago, so your statement it totally wrong. For comparison next time please stay at Alpine Retreat, Enzian Hotel,or the Chalet which are old.
