"There are hotel chains that feel like they were designed by a committee in a windowless room somewhere, optimised for neither comfort nor character. The Days Inn Wyndham in Sudbury does not feel like that.
My working theory is that a family is running this place, and running it with considerable pride. The kind of pride that shows up in clean rooms, recently updated furnishings, and common areas that are bright and well maintained — not because a corporate checklist demanded it, but because someone actually cares.
The breakfast room confirmed my suspicions. Scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, yogurt — nothing that would trouble a Michelin inspector, but everything was warm, well prepared, and replenished. For a complimentary breakfast it was genuinely good, which is rarer than it should be.
The room was clean, modern, and quiet. The price was excellent.
I'll be back next time I'm in Sudbury, which is really all a hotel needs to achieve."
