While the property manager was nice and professional, the property left a lot to be desired. There was no seating inside the hotel/loft. The clock, and TV we're on the counter in the kitchen and far out of sight of the bedrooms where they would have been more useful. There was an overwhelming smell of wood throughout the loft and felt like an unfished tree house. The space didn't seem child friendly even though it was a family loft. The bathroom offered practically no privacy as it was in the center of the loft, had opening in the ceiling that allowed visibility to anyone in the bedroom atop it and the door was "locked" by a magnet that was more trendy than functional. Overall it was not a space that I would recommend to a family with small and/or active children.

Frequently asked questions
I booked this room because there are few hotel options in the heart of Hillcrest where I usually stay. And I had seen this building being built and was definitely curious. And while I’ll say this is by no means a bad hotel, the price was reasonable, the view from the fourth floor was great and the bed comfortable, overall I was completely underwhelmed. The biggest issue I have is that the space is entirely open, and by that I mean the shower and toilet are open to the room. There is this sort of ridiculous swing door with a magnet that you can “close” to offer some privacy, but it offers no actual privacy if you were doing your business with another person in the room. For that reason alone, I would never consider staying here with another individual. And for all the attempts to be more “efficient” with space, I actually felt there was a lot of wasted space in the room. Most of the furniture feels more ikea than euro or Japanese chic. And just a few other annoyances: no iron, couldn’t log in to the digital devise that gave me hotel information, there is no light for the “vanity mirror”, and I came back to the room late at night and my code to access the room didn’t work, requiring me to call their number at 1:30am to get it reset. In the end, this is not a bad place at all and I’m sure they’ll work out some kinks. But as an admirer of quirky hotel rooms/places, this one was just seemed to pick quirk, or just inefficiency, over practical design.
