The southern facing slope of the ridgeway is very steep here and the gradient of the road will be levelled out by a cutting and an embankment. This is the point where the cutting (behind the point of view) will become an embankment. Already excavated material has started to be put in place for the embankment. The width of the embankment will require the demolition of the house at West farm on the right of the image. The Bincombe road will be accessed by slip roads with restricted access. Northbound traffic on the new road will have no access to Bincombe and local Bincombe traffic will have no access to the southbound new road. About 100m long this ford which joins Watery lane with a minor track further south runs along the bed of the river Wey.
