Under the Arch, Within the City Set beneath Antigua’s iconic arch, Hotel Convento Santa Catalina places you exactly where the city begins to breathe. Step outside and everything is near. Step inside and it softens—gardens, quiet corners, a pause from the street. Rooms are simple, spacious, and comfortable. The staff moves with quiet efficiency, arranging what you need before you ask—like our transfer to Lake Atitlán, handled with ease. In the days before Semana Santa, the city hums a little longer. By ten, it begins to fade; and sometimes, in the quiet hours, distant bells would wake us—we’d count the rings, then slip back into sleep. A stay defined not by excess, but by balance—location, calm, and the feeling of being exactly where you should be.

Clean room and good location. Variety of experiences with staff from friendly to lacking ‘warmth’. Choice of breakfast food decreased during our stay.

The staff were very courteous. I enjoyed my stay. For the price and area this was a very good accommodation.

Great location in the middle of Antigua - walking distance to everything (Central Park, Mercado, and the Arch) Staff extremely helpful and accommodating (cleaned our rooms everday, despite not asking) Breakfast is a great deal (order anything off the menu) Also, they provided a very simple bag lunch (sandwich) for when our excursion left before breakfast time. AC worked great in our room… walls are a little thin so you can hear other guests as they make their way through the hotel and stairs… but overall a great value - would stay there again!

The food was outstanding. Very fresh, very creative and very tasty. The room was lovely with amazing bedding. We enjoyed a huge tub as well. It was clean and well appointed. The staff were great - helpful and friendly. There was a guitarist that played through dinner and then again in the morning while we had breakfast. It really set a calm mood.
