GREAT GET AWAY; VERY PLEASED
We have no complaints, it was a beautiful, new, very clean, comfortable home. Room for my family of 8 including grown children and grandkids. Plenty of room for us all. Nice deck and downstairs to relax and spend family time. The house is not on the beach side of the highway so we had to walk quite a distance across the highway with our grankids to the beach access. Though it sits center in a neighborhood, we felt that privacy was adequate and enjoyed the fenced in yard and privacy gate downstairs.

Missing items
We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with some items that were not available, like towels. Also, some of the furniture chair arm was broken, the door to the bottom sink cabnet was loose, and the dryer didn't work. Some of the pots and pans were unusable.

Beautiful house, poor location description
The house is beautiful and spacious and clean other that some of the dishes.The house is located across from the beach, but you cannot see the beach. The beach is several roads down and about a 10 minute walk. The bay is beside the unit, but is not accessible. The house is beautiful, but the dryer and the dishwasher did not work.

Overall our stay was great! Had everything we needed and the kids loved the house! Plenty of room. Our only complaint was the downstairs bed being fairly uncomfortable. Sunk in on both sides from extensive use, pretty hard, and small for 2 people. Also, the listing portrayed the house as being located on the beach, but it was across the road on the bay side. So if you want a "walk out onto the beach" house; this isn't that. Its a short walk across though. But it was still lovely and we enjoyed our stay so much we booked an extra day.

Surfside stay
The property was pretty well maintained and looked very clean but none of the bed linens upstairs were clean. We found make-up and hair on them. The vacuum cleaner did not work. We were disappointed that we couldn’t walk out to the beach as we had at our other rentals but that was my fault. The cutlery was a motley assortment and there was no can opener, but that could have been the fault of previous tenants. We had fun and made good memories there.

Great place to relax
We love the real beach vibe. Surfside is it. You can drive out on the city beach in a 1/2 mile or the county beach in a mile or you can walk across the road and 300 yards and be on the beach from this house. We prefer the county beach because we drive right up to our spot and just unload everything. We parked our truck under the house inside the gate and let our dog run in the yard. Our daughters had there own room to chill in. We hardly ever seen them unless we were on the beach. House cleaning did a great job just was a little late to get there so we could get in. We didn’t mind getting the towels out of the dryer to get in on time. Everything was there plus water toys, canopy, and plenty of propane for the grill. We always make a HEB run for there pre-made dinners and the fridge worked great. I read a lot of reviews on this place most were good some were complainers, if you want a 5 star somebody to wait on you hotel go somewhere else. This is a family very nice and modern 5 star house that’s been used. That’s not us we loved it. It was great.

Overall it was a nice stay. We don’t expect something the ritz when paying what we did. For what we paid, it was nice. Toilets did not flush well. Refrigerator didn’t seem to be as cold as it needed to be. Floors were absolutely filthy. We could not walk around barefoot in the home without our feet turning BLACK! Made us not want our kids to be playing on the floor.

Great little stay by the beach
The home was a great layout and in good repair. Great little house for the week! No hand soap. Also it is a short walk to the beach but just know that it is on the west side of the main highway so you have to cross that to get to the beach.

Surfside stay at Sunset Bay
We loved staying at the house named Sunset Bay. It was roomy and clean. The access to the beach was just across the way. The fence around the driveway gave us great privacy. The view on the front deck was gorgeous with the morning sunrise. The price was affordable for my family and my brother’s family. I highly recommend this property. Just remember to bring your mosquito repellent!!!!

Moms and daughters weekend
We had 4 moms and 3 teenage girls staying in the house and the layout of the house made it so fun. The house is super cute and it looked like it was recently updated. The girls were able to all sleep in the bunk bed room together and the location is walkable to the beach. We definitely made some lasting memories that weekend and in the house.

The property was nice. It was clean. I wish there were extra tp and paper towels but because we read reviews we brought extra. Plenty of towels was a great plus. The internet went down a couple of times but the property owner was quick to respond. The technician came out 1 day to fix which was only a “band aid” then he came out and replaced the whole system which did the trick. Overal the communication with the owner was good. The place was clean. Would consider staying again if I was in the area.

Year end Family weekend 2022
I came across the property while searching for a weekend getaway as a nice fit for my family reunion. It has 3 rooms and my 2 daughters and their families seem to fit in well. 6 adults and 2 kids under the age of 6. Location is also good near the beach. The property itself looks clean in the photos. The rooms look ok too. After spending 3 days and 2 nights there , several areas need attention includes there is no liquid soap refills all through the property. Common supplies like paper towels is completely absent. There are kitchen cloths instead but they look stained. Some of the cooking pans look so old and scratched. Some of the hand and bath towels also look stained even though they have been laundered. Overall, the experience was ok because it is so close to the beach and you can bring small pets. But I wouldn’t fit 6 adults and 2 kids in this property.

Nice Family Weekend
Thank you for letting us stay! The house was just the right size for us and our in-laws. Towels/bedding/kitchen supplies/grill - all the necessities we needed. The beach access is just down the street and you can purchase a beach pass at the entrance. Note - it is a one way street on the beach with parking only on the dune side. PD was out enforcing and we say someone actually get a ticket. Beach was clean and water was clear since the waves were calm. There are two restaurants on the beach nearby that have nice patio options and good food. Small grocery store down the highway as well that has most of the basics. We enjoyed our visit and will be back!

Pros: Home was as shown in photos, overall well maintained, 5 minute walk from private beach access, 5 minute drive from public beach access. Nice deck seating Cons: Didn't receive access information to home on check-in day and had a hard time reaching owner. Almost had to find a hotel nearby which was not ideal at all. No extra blankets or wash cloths. Internet was in/out. Cleanliness of the sofa, bed linens, kitchen utensils

Did had a small issue when we just got there we didn’t have the key code and we waited almost an hour to get a response from the host but overall it was a great stay .

I liked where it was located. My family enjoyed it. It was not clean when we got there. Food left in refrigerator and cabinet. Dishes were chipped. Even with all of that, I decided to put aside and enjoy myself.

This beach house was so lovely. We enjoyed everything but the stairs. We are getting too old for stairs. It was very nice, plenty of towels, lots of beds, kitchen well supplied. The decks were great!

Nice clean place, close to everything
Very clean and well supplied. The fenced yard was great for my dogs and one of the main reasons we chose this place. Had to message owner once and was her response was very quick. Although not right on the beach, loved sitting on the deck and enjoyed the sunsets.

Great Spot!
The house was adorable and extremely easy to find. We had everything we needed and the owner was readily available for my questions and when I needed help. We had a hiccup with the AC not working but luckily the weather was cool enough to open the windows and feel okay. The property owner was able to get an AC repairman out within a couple of hours and he fixed the problem quickly. Highly recommend this house and had great attention from the owner!!

Poor Place to Stay
We only arrived and turned right around and headed back for home within 2 hrs. Home was not as pictured. Houses are packed tightly together. Couldn't even see beach or bay from this home. And that is not even why we just decided we would not stay. HOST did not communicate with us......acted like we were a 'problem' when we reached out about no Wi-Fi or Cable (as described in listing.) I write this from another vacation home where we have visited 3 previous times, and host is always gracious, communicates well in advance and we've talked multiple times since our arrival TODAY. I did not pay almost $1,000 to be told I needed to be the TV/Cable Service person for the home in Surfside. You know it's BAD when you pack everything UP those stairs and then 1.5 hrs later you are packing everything back DOWN those stairs. Surfside could have used our business since we came despite a storm about 3 weeks prior. The host is not a 'host.' We'll take the loss. Don't take the risk.

I’m sorry you guys were dissatisfied with our home and the lack of communication you claim we had …. As a matter of a fact my husband and I were communicating with you both on how to reset the wifi, which occurs at times when surfside has a storm. It was a simple fix, that required a push of a button. And if for whatever reason that didn’t work, our next step would have been to call a technician and go fix the problem, but bc you guys were too impatient we didn’t get a chance to help…Not sure where you get the “lack of communication” when I have the evidence of our conversation. Sorry and thanks!

We chose this house because of the fenced in yard and we are so glad that we did. We had two littles under 2 with us so having the fenced in yard plus gate on the top deck made it possible to relax while the kids played. Easy walk to the beach even though we chose to load the truck up and park on the beach. We cannot wait to book again next year.

Very new build, nice location and easy access.
Nice new house but I found that house keeping is lacking. A trundle bed was covered in dog hair, snack foods, trash papers and toys left under beds. I swept the floors upon arriving. Not completely supplied with towels. There were maybe ten bath towels, no wash clothes and no kitchen towels or dishwashing cloths. I went the first day and bought for our stay. We brought our beach towels and that saved us. I checked and it is not stated if there are bath towels supplied but everywhere we always book with VRBO s has supplied towels, wash clothes and kitchen towels. Something has been spilled in the front upstairs bedroom and it is sticky on the floor at end of bed. It was there when we arrived and I did not clean it up. I just believe that if you pay a house keeping fee it should have been cleaned better and stocked with towels. Overall it was an ok experience other then the little inconveniences.

Finally returned
Came to Surfside ten years ago and I have been trying to get back ever since. I have talked about how beautiful it is and once again Surfside did not disappoint. Beautiful beach house with relaxing patios and a fenced in yard. Might not be ocean front property but, I was still able to hear the waves crashing and a short 5 min walk I could be on the beach. I will definitely be booking again praying it won’t take another ten years to get back down there.

Absolutely loved our stay!
We had an exceptional time staying at the house… we decided to drive to the beach as it was just a quick drive with a free parking section… when we were done at the ocean they let us pull up to the beach and load our car as we had a 10 month old. We had no issues with water smell but did bring and use our own water. Only negative comment would be the grill was too dirty to use so we just cooked our burgers inside. The house was clean, and had what we needed. We hope to find a time to travel again and stay here!

Overall a great stay
We had a great time even though the weather was less then desirable we still had fun! When we checked in on Monday afternoon we noticed some poop from previous guest but that was no biggie since we have two of our own and just cleaned it up. The house was very clean and the set up was beautiful. I saw about the water in other reviews so we brought some but we did not have any issues with smell of water or anything like that. I believe they are working on it in the city maybe since about 3-4 hours on Tuesday we didn’t have water. But no biggie we were out and about. The hostess is very nice and gives you all the info you need for check in and check out. I do recommend bringing silverware. The house is perfect and the yard is absolutely great for kids and puppies!!! All in all I would definitely book again. The beach access is like less then 5 minute walk and the view is alittle different then photo cause of new builds. But it is still completely worth it!!! Thank you sunset bay!
