This review would easily have been a 10 with one major exception. I will start with the bad for us which was there were mice in the upstairs bedroom. For some, maybe this is normal for a house in the NC mountains but for us it was unnerving to hear them scattering around at night behind and under the bed. Did not sleep well. There were also several flies upon arrival and no fly swatter. Now the good. The views were stunning. We loved hanging out on the upstairs deck with the fire pit at night and in the morning. So lovely to still be outside enjoying the beauty during the rain. The outdoor furniture was plentiful and comfortable. We also built a fire (lots of firewood provided) and loved being in the hot tub for sunsets. The upstairs king bed was comfortable (lots of pillows!). A few notes. The description does state that the 2nd bedroom is separate but we didn't quite pick that up. Just know that you have to go outside and downstairs to a completely separate entrance. This may be a perfect set-up for some but just wanted to point it out. Some quirky things such as the initial entry is on the backside of the house & not the front doors, the directions mention a thermostat but really it's a heating/cooling unit under the stairs and it took us a while to figure out the instructions for the fireplace. We did not use the kitchen much but never located a dishwasher. In general, the best part was the beautiful location and outdoor living spaces. Host very responsive.
