We throughly enjoyed our one night stay on our way from San Jose airport to Samara. The gardens are absolutely beautiful! The breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable and even with no ac comfortable all night. I would highly recommend.

Eden Atenas is a great stopover if you're touring Costa Rica, or even just looking for a few days out of the city. The property is beautifully landscaped and you'll wake up to an orchestra of birds (also the nightly rooster's call!) and a view of lush mountain foliage. You will receive the most delicious and freshly made breakfasts, with some seasonal fruits picked from the property itself. And the hotel manager is as kind, hospitable and gracious as she is knowledgeable and helpful. She also has a wealth of knowledge about local flora and fauna, and the property's amazing garden (really, a botanical garden in its own right). Sure, the WIFI could have been better and the beds a little bigger. The property has modest rooms with the bare bones (don't expect TV's and AC's--though a fan kept us cool even on the hottest nights). But everything is well maintained and very clean. And you'll be pampered and nourished in other ways. My husband and I are definitely looking forward to staying there again, on our next visit to Atenas/CR.

The Eden Atenas is a beautiful property that allows you to enjoy the views of Costa Rica. If you want a peaceful, quiet, place to relax this is it. The breakfasts are delicious and the pool is clean and refreshing.

After flying into San Jose, we wanted a place to stay outside of the city on our way to the coast, and this was perfect! The host is so kind and the breakfast was very good. The gardens and pool area are a magical Eden indeed! Thank you, Eden Atenas! We hope to return one day with our baby :)

We stayed at Eden Atenas the night before flying home and are so glad we did. The staff are wonderful and friendly and even helped us order a pizza to be delivered as we didn’t want to leave once we had arrived. The complimentary breakfast provided was outstanding. The rooms are simple yet very comfortable with no need of AC. And the lush landscaping, beautiful pool and abundance of many different birds was a bonus. We will definitely stay here again!

I was a solo female traveler and had a great stay at Eden Atenas. The property is beautiful and peaceful, and bed was very comfy. The only challenge is that the property was a bit tricky to find even with directions – could use better signage at the turnoff and at the property entrance.

We left early. This used to be a nice place but it is poorly maintained with minimal cleaning and uncomfortable furniture. The gardens are beautiful but there were so many mosquitoes and ants we couldn’t hang outside much. It’s sad that the owner is letting it go down hill.

Property is truly a paradise. Our host Ernesto was very helpful in all our questions and needs. Even called us a taxi when we needed it. Town is only a couple of miles, but walking is not recommended. We stayed in “Monkey Room”, very comfortable with a great deck and view of gardens. Breakfast was a culinary delight every morning, beautifully presented and delicious. Couldn’t have been better for our first week in Costa Rica. I highly recommend it. Thanks Ernesto! Lloyd

This really is a little garden of eden. You won't be able to wait for breakfast, which is delicious and is served among the flowers and terraces. Our second floor main house rooms were very comfortable and had beautiful outlooks.

The hotel is set in beautifully landscaped grounds with flowering trees everywhere. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the balcony hammock a perfect reading spot. Manager Ernesto was an excellent host and organized our dinner delivery and oversaw a delicious breakfast the next morning. I wish we’d had another day there!

The Gardens were designed by a horticulturist so they were insanely beautiful and attracted great fruit eating birds. And since my room was above the tree-line, I got some great shots from my balcony. The staff were outstanding, they were on top of everything at all times. Enid is a great chef and most mornings i could hear her singing softly from the kitchen, which was soothing. Ernesto made all kinds of reservations for me and even coordinated my Covid return test. Wifi was perfect and I always felt secure, even better, I felt like family!

An experience at Eden
I absolutely loved staying here. The hosts were so friendly, helpful, generous. I had a feeling of being and a harmonious community while staying there. Safe, calm, quiet, and peaceful. It's more than just a B&B, it's an experience that soothes the senses, and leaves you feeling peaceful. The sounds of the birds singing, and the beautiful flowers everywhere it was absolutely heavenly. They were so helpful, they even helped me with my transportation issues, and disgruntle Uber driver. And breakfast was the best I've ever had.The combination of taste, textures, sights and smells combined with just the right amount of everything, so nothing overpowered my taste buds. I would definitely stay here again.

Upon arriving to the B&B, the host was rude to my wife and reprimanded her for arriving late (she was already in bed...it was 9:15). She responded that she didnt know there was a time restriction (the booking was pre-paid). She responded, "You don't have Internet to check your email?" In which, we did not have any WIFI service in Costa Rica (not that it should matter since it was pre-paid). I checked my Hotels.com account and did not see any emails from the host. She was obviously inconvenienced that she has to wake up to let us in the gate. She doesn't like people arriving after 9:00. I asked the host if I could change my breakfast time in the morning, and she said "no." She takes days in advance to prepare breakfast. She eventually modified the time, but her response was ridiculous. I appreciate the planning for guests and their stay, but she lacked any sense of flexibility and basic hospitality--a B&B experience revolves around host. Besides the poor hospitality, the stay was great. The room was clean and spacious (the pillows lacked integrity). The dogs were barking at night which got annoying. There was also someone arriving to the property at 2:00 AM, but I guess the host found that acceptable. The view of the garden was top knotch and the breakfast was gormet. This had all the potential for an excellent experience. I am hopeful the host will read my comments and change her demeanor for future guests.

Mar. 15, 16, and finally April 2nd I sent requests for arrival time confirmation, with no responses. It is standard for people in Costa Rica to go to bed early and get up early. When we do not receive any confirmation we set a time of 9 pm as a cut off from waiting to see if they show up. I do apologize for my unpleasant welcoming. It had been a very challenging holiday week and I admit I was rather exhausted. The late night return of another guest is not something I enjoyed as well, but is what that other guest did. At 5:55 am I was severing this guest coffee when they requested a 6 am breakfast. We have scheduled them for an 8 am. The 7 am and 9 am times had already been reserved. After the initial shock I quickly provided a 6:30 breakfast for them. Putting aside the other guests preparations. The guests never left until after 11 am and so I do wonder why the need for the altered time and inconvenience to others was required.

Gorgeous Gardens
Eden Atenas is absolutely beautiful. I was upgraded to the apartment overlooking the garden with a huge patio where I enjoyed eating meals, listening to the sounds of nature, and sleeping in the hammock. The breakfasts were amazing each morning. I will be back here in a few months. Def one of my favorite places in Atenas.

An epic oasis
The room was very spacious, and the view epic. Jan and Avtar were so helpful in arranging my transportation, and activities. Jan’s cooking is exceptional! The breakfasts were healthy, and delicious. She even made vegetarian dish’s for me!

This property is aptly named. It certainly felt like paradise. Of all the places we visited in Costa Rica, we both agreed that our favorite experience was experiencing the paradise that is Eden Atenas. Jan is also very kind and helpful. The B&B is glorious! Everything is beautifully arranged, it truly is an Eden in the midst of Costa Rica jungle. And if the facility itself wasn't nice enough, the owners and staff are exceptional. Our breakfast was exceptionally imagined and lovingly prepared by the owners. Coffee? So good. We will crtainly stay here again.

Eden Atenas is about 45-minute drive from the SJO airport, conveniently located in a quiet location surrounded by beautiful garden and a pool. One can enjoy sounds of various birds attracted by variety of species carefully selected and planted to attract all kinds of life. Our daughter enjoyed swimming in the pool and company of Lily and Max, a loving pair who welcomed us whenever we return from our day trips. Avtar and Jan are a gracious host with great knowledge and experience. We were fortunate to have breakfast prepared by Jan and it was delicious! Avtar provided us with guidance for places to visit. Most locations were about a day trip and were very happy with our stay at Eden Atenas.

Edén was delightful.
Easy check in, cheap cab rides to the center. Amazing gardens and lovely pool. The breakfasts were delightful and varied, learning vegetarian but with amazing meat options in request. Jan puts so much into creating a welcome, peaceful environment with so many delights for the senses. It’s extremely clean, all amenities we hoped for, towels (bath and pool) and linens. We didn’t get to explore the local environs but the views were gorgeous and the town of Atenas offered some good variety of meals and local flavor.
