The room was comfy and staff was great. The trains that run back and forth all night were unexpected and probably an issue with all "land side" hotels. However, we did not realize that half of Old Orchard shuts before Columbus Day so not a lot of restaurant choices. The hotel is bare minimum - no cleaning service. Our room could have down with a good clean or at least the dirty marks washed off the toilet door and frame. We rented three rooms and all of them had marks on the bathroom wall and door. The bathroom door was very creaky so woke up. However, the road is full of flood lights that do not get switched off so the room was light and the people coming out of bars were very loud and drunk so if a light sleeper they were annoying. The biggest kicker was the freight train and Amtrak service that runs right behind the hotel and runs through the night - these trains shake the whole building. We were across the main road. However I did not know my hotel was so close and parallel to train tracks. When the trains went by frequently at all hours of the day and night it shook my bed and the room. It felt like an earth quake and ruined my sleep. I was on the second floor and I don't know if that happens on the first floor. There was no closet, no bedside table. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was very clean and well kept. Access to the beach was convenient and very easy. You are right next to a very loud train track that shook the entire bed, throughout the night every time I train went by. The room was extremely small. The stairs were difficult to manage with luggage.
