This is a very quiet place close to Sabana Park. It is great location to go to San Jose or Escazu. It was very comfortable and well equiped in the little apartment

I went there primarely for the location. I was dissapointed that their was no bar and the restaurant only served breakfast. Staff was extremely friendly.

Nice. We are going back.
We found Soluxe El Sesteo Hotel to be plain but charming. It has a lovely courtyard and a good typical Costa Rican breakfast. The ambience is more homey than a big corporate chain hotel. The area is quiet which is a big plus in San Jose. We did not scout the area for restaurants or grocery. Beds were quite firm. We will be returning and spending a week in one of their apartments which has a kitchen and sitting area for very little more than a standard room.

Very kind, professional, and helpful front desk staff. Beautiful garden and pool area--they clearly hired a caring gardener with an eye for detail to do their flowers. EXCELLENT breakfast--wow!! Fresh fruit juice, perfect coffee (with warm milk for cafe con leche!). Great selection of breakfast choices. The room was wonderful--I was just a little grossed out by carpet in the tropics--but it might have been completely mental, I forget if I smelled mustiness. The hot/cold water tap was finicky, which made for adventurous showers, and I made the mistake of filling a glass of water from the kitchen sink tap (on my second stay, 10 days later, through the school program), and it was full of mold. But that's the tropics for ya! Overall an absolutely wonderful stay!!! Thank you, Soluxe El Sesteo!

Good place to stay in San Jose.
Just using a stop over to travel to other locations in Costa Rica. Very nice hotel, clean, good staff, and facilities. Nice location on the edge of town, but close enough to walk to some good restaurants & shops and there is a large city park (La Sabana) a few blocks away.

great value for family traveling
Very good hotel if you have children. Many costa Rica hotels advertise kitchenette rooms but then do not have stove or big refrigerator and almost always they don't work. This hotel was great in that the stove oven refrigerator all worked. Also they have a pool and a hot tub and the hot tub actually worked great. Trust me when i say 90% of the hotels that advertise on hotels.com say they have a pool and or hot tub and they never work. This hotel has all the ammennities and they all worked. Great value and great staff

A gem of a place
Great place for the money. Friendly staff. Good service. Danielle, who worked at the front desk was wonderful. Very safe and secure place with lots of tropical plants. I really enjoyed my 2 week stay. It was a great base in which to tour.

Really nice pool area and generally has everything you need. Breakfast was nice! The staff are really helpful, as I was ill and needed to go to hospital, they rang a taxi for me and spoke to my embassy for me too. Helped me change US$ to local currency and checked on me when I got back from hospital.

Pretty basic hotel, got all the amenities but nothing fancy. I was concerned that all the windows facing the street had bars on them, and the front entrance is always locked. But once inside the premises it looks nice. The front desk people were really nice and helpful. There were not a lot of stores or restaurants in the neighborhood.

All good except internet is awful. Also, vI don't know if it's the hotel or the electric company's dault, but both my iPhone and iPad stopped charging at the end of my first day there. It turned out that I had to pay $285 to get a reburshished iPhone because everything was blown. I'm at my local Apple store in the US right now and they will probably have to do the same thing with the iPad !!! So, aside from the hotel charges, it cost me another $570 to replace my two devices with refurbished ones !!!!

Great location to launch a vacation
Hotel El Sesteo is my go-to place when traveling in and out of Costa Rica. It is about 20 minutes down Highway 1 from the main airport, far enough away to not have the plane noise. It has a secure parking area and nice rooms. There are beautiful plants and birds. Recently, the owners have spruced up the hotel. It's a garden oasis in San Jose. I lived in Costa Rica and have been staying at El Sesteo for years as I would enter/leave the country or if I had business in San Jose.

This was our second time staying here in the last few weeks while visiting family. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The courtyard and pool area is beautiful and relaxing. My only complaint is the beds are you too hard for me, but just right for my wife.

In desparate need of updating
My son and I stayed here on our first night in Costa Rica before heading to the Caribbean coast. The room was large and had a kitchen, but the furniture and appliances were very old and the refrigerator was not plugged in so it wasn't cold. The bathroom was missing grout and the shower was stained with very bad pressure. The pool seemed well kept but very cold. The hot tub was not very hot and seemed to need a cleaning. The carpet is old and stained. The beds were ok but old as well. On a positive note, breakfast was good and the people were friendly. Our airport shuttle was a cab that works for them frequently. He was great and brought us to get our bus tickets ans to the market. He then came back at a specified time and took us back. Then we asked him to come Sunday and deive us to the bus terminal, which he was happy to do. Santos was the best part of our stay. We were supposed to stay there again at the end of our trip but cancelled the reservation and booked something closer to the airport.

I was between tours and needed a place to stay over Christmas weekend. Room didn't have air but I really didn't miss it . Close to a great restaurant, Grand De Oro- pricey but worth every penny if you're a foodie, and a number of other good ones. Short walk to national football stadium within national park and a pleasant 2.5 km to town square and center of shopping and museums though none were open for holidays during my stay. Katina and Ronaldo on the front desk were particularly helpful.

Older low rise motel/hotel kept very tidy but could use updating. Very convenient location for both down-town and to head either east on the Auto Pista or back to the airport. Very handy for clients of ARCR seeking residency information. Like most of Costa Rica, overpriced for what you get--but that is a reality of this country. Breakfast was simple but OK; fresh fruit, scrambled (real) eggs, plantains, and gallo pinto; juice, water, coffee and cheap bread for toast. No mid-day or evening meals, but several good eateries within walking distance. The pool is not heated and a bit "refreshing" if used--good size, clean and attractive. Hot-tub is NOT hot, barely tepid probably only from being so small it absorbs a bit of sunlight. Staff were very attentive, helpful and several speak English as well as Spanish and perhaps other languages. Rooms had ample space, and kitchen with full stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker and minimal pans. Ceiling fans not very effective and no A/C -- but viable most of the year. Seating in the lounge area was provided, but old, and of marginal comfort. Adequate only lighting for reading. Desk space, small safe, and basics. Even a wash cloth (rare in CR) but only one small bar of soap for vanity/shower though there was shampoo, and even a toothbrush with paste--so overall decent value, helpful staff, convenient, just a little shop worn.

Clean and fairly priced basic hotel.
Basic but clean hotel. No Air conditioners in the rooms but I did not need one in November as the weather was very cool and pleasant in Costa Rica this time of the year. A pretty decent complimentary breakfast (sausage, rice, fruit, coffee, toast, and eggs. The room was clean and housekeeping was prompt about servicing the room. My room had a kitchen and dining area separate from the bedroom. I would stay here again.

Front service desk was great aside from only having had the job for a month. The site suggests the hotel has a airport shuttle (it doesn't - just an over priced cab they call for you). The internet was down unfortunately. Not sure why the search engine gave us this place as an option for the airport to begin with.

Great stay in a great location for us
We needed to be at ARCR at 8 am to travel with our attorney's assistant to our residency appointment. We selected Soluxe El Susteo to spend the night before our appointment, mainly because it is right around the corner from ARCR. Not only was it a great location, but it was so much more than we expected for the price. The pool and spa area is beautifully landscaped, and the water in the spa was actually hot. Our room was very clean, and we enjoyed nice hot showers in the morning, followed by a free breakfast by the pool. (It was a typical Tico breakfast of gallo pinto, fresh fruit, and juice. Best of all is the location which is only a few blocks south of La Sabana Park, which is one of the nicest municipal parks we've ever seen. It has everything...bike and walking paths, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, a roller rink, horseback and pony rides, ponds with paddle boats on them, a stadium, and more. The staff were wonderful, and when we asked about leaving our vehicle in their secure parking area for a few hours after checking out, the answer was a resounding "No problema". When we returned, they asked us if we had received our cedulas and congratulated us enthusiastically when we replied 'yes'.

More than expected....
The cleanliness was so detailed, hardly seen to this degree at other hotels. And the staff real nice. Hearty breakfast included each day. Within walking distance of buses, restaurants, beautiful Sabana park and much more. Great value for the aparthotel, even if the stay is short (mine was 6 nights). I combined a business trip with leisure this time, and will definetely stay here on my future trips to San Jose Costa Rica.

Stayed two nights , for whatever reason I couldn't get wifi in my room so was moved to another and all was well . Enjoyed the breakfast, pool and the hot tub . Price was okay . The only real complaint was hearing the train horn go off down the street . I'd go again

5 STAR PLUS for customer service.
Came to CR for dental surgery. Everyone was extremely accommodating. The guys at the front desk programed my GPS to get me to all appointments. They spent half an hour programing map coordinates as we had no physical address. Called offices for directions as I speak minimal Spanish, found me a pharmacy to get a prescription filled and in general made sure I had everything I needed. They treated me as a concerned family member. They as well kept all my food that needed refrigeration as we checked out for the weekend to go to the beach and will be returning on Monday for MD follow up visits. I plan on giving my dentist the name of this hotel for other clients looking for a place to stay. It was an apartment style room with a well equipt kitchen. There is also a breakfast buffet included every morning. The accomodations are not 5 star but the CUSTOMER SERVICE wins!!

Muy dificil a encontrar, falta un signo buen visible del hotel. Jardin muy lindo, habitaciones y banos necesitan una renovacion. El equipo muy amable, pero falta la profesionalidad. Se dice, que un restorante en el hotel , pero no hay ningun. No voy a recomender este hotel, hay mejores en San Jose en la misma categoria y precios.
