An adequate room
It was fine. The room smelled wet on arrival. After I left I know why; unless you open the single window out (the ones to the balcony are accessible to anyone who walks to the front door) there is no way for moisture to escape. The bathroom fan makes a noise that is audible over the television, so you can’t leave it on for any length of time to let the moist air out. It’s also dependent on the room key to stay on, so you can’t leave it on while you’re out.
The sash windows let a lot of cold air through. When the front door to the building is opened the blinds literally swing inwards gusting cold air inwards. Fortunately I did find the heater.
It’s noisy. Room 1 is at the front door, and you can hear every guest try to figure out where the lock box is. The lock box is out the back, so everyone leaves their stuff at the top of the stairs and has a conversation about it. There’s no noise insulation between floors. No wonder there is a prohibition against noise after 10pm, conversations are audible, albeit muffled. Foot steps ring out at all times of the day or night.
The bed, for some unknown reason, is on castors. Sitting on it is enough to make it move inches across the timber floor, and the bed head is held up by the bed so it likes to flap around with wild abandon. Any time I got into or out of the bed, say for a nocturnal visit to test the noise levels of the fan, I would have to reposition the bed against the wall, lest the pillows be lost during the night.
