“The owners (different than the host) are the best! They made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay comfortable and stress-free as our house in Ka’u was damaged by Hurricane Lala. The Nene Room was beautiful, clean and peaceful with its large picture window overlooking the serene forest. We also stayed in Gecko room that has one bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The Gecko room is comfortable and perfect for family and longer stays. The surrounding is quiet and close to stores,……
“I would sum things up that this property is 'rustic'. And there are a few minor things that can be improved on, and a few bigger problems you can't. Bigger:
noise - people walking around are loud, not intentionally, but the walls are thin
breakfast - picked this one as I thought it was a nice full breakfast. its some fruit, a not so good danish and dry cereal bar.
smaller, but important items:
only one pillow per person, hmmm, a pillow is like $10, you need at least 2/pp

“We liked the room and liked the location - just steps to the Farmer's Market. This is more of a note to Expedia than to the Hilo Downtown Inn. This is the second place we have rented through Expedia that didn't tell us we'd need to negotiate stairs. My wife has trouble navigating stairs. I think the property and Expedia have an ethical and perhaps legal obligation to inform potential renters about the stairs.”
