Activity itinerary

Loch Ness Region
  • 30m
Your fantastic day out with Tony starts with a scenic journey down the East side of Loch Ness. You will stop and be told the true story of St. Columba and the very first documented eye witness report on a large water beast that attacked one of his followers trying to retrieve a boat. You will actually stand in an area of approximately 50m where St. Columba stood over 1,400 years ago.
Urquhart Castle
  • 30m
After boarding your vehicle it's off to Urquhart Castle where you will have a great photo opportunity whilst Tony regales you with the history of the Fraser's and the Grant Clans and how they changed sides during every Jacobite Rebellion from the late 1600's until the mid 1700's.
Beauly Priory
  • 30m
This priory was completed in the early 13th Century by a group of monks who only existed for about 50 years. It was used in the story line of Outlander when Jamie and Claire visited the seer in Beauly. Tony will again tell the story of the Priory and all its ups and downs over the centuries.
Culloden Battlefield
  • 2h
Here you will actually walk the battlefield and Tony will explain and demonstrate all the trials and tribulations of "the '45". This is what the Jacobite's to this day still use to describe the last rebellion against the British Crown which started n 10th August 1745 until the final battle which took place on this field on 16th April 1746. Here you can see all the graves of the various Clans who fell that day including of course the Fraser's. This is where you will get your lunch.
Fort George
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
As Tony mentioned in his introduction you will be taken to Fort George where you will enjoy a wonderful scenic walk around the largest surviving Artillery Fort in Europe. It was initially constructed to house a large British Army force to prevent another Jacobite uprising and to this day is still a fully functional military barracks. The Black Watch are currently stationed there and when they leave in 2029 it will no longer be used as military establishment. Whilst in the Fort you will also have the opportunity to visit the Regimental Museum of Tony's Regiment The Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons).
Clava Cairns
  • 1h 30m
Clava Cairns, the inspiration for Diana Gabaldon's Craig Na Dune in Outlander. The stones that whisk her and her family back and forth through the centuries are where the props for the show were taken from. Tony has his own explanation of what these ancient stones represent and whilst there you will see his logic as he explains his theory. There is no actual historical records or documentation. We only know they are older than the Pyramids of Egypt.
