Once the tourist arrives at the winery, they will be welcomed with a cup of coffee in the winter season or with Medio y Medio (a traditional Uruguayan drink) in the summer season in the park.
Then, the winemaker will tell you the history of the family business from its beginnings and how it has evolved over time. Then you will visit the Tannat vineyard, Uruguay's emblematic variety. To continue touring the winery facilities, you will be able to see the production plant and its machinery and enter an original tank from 1930. Then we will go to the cellar where we have the largest number of barrels on display in Uruguay, dating from 1940, a barrel cellar where we make our Jerez Anticuario and where our Reserva and Gran Reserva wines evolve, and the cellar where our natural sparkling wine Fond de Cave rests, which is the largest active underground cellar on the continent. You will also receive a master class on disgorging the sparkling wine with the machinery we use in the process.
Finally, you will pass through the museum of the Old San Javier Winery from 1820, where we have wines from 1967, 1978, and more.
The food tasting and lunch will take place in the winery's underground cellar.
The wines you will taste are as follows:
Glass of Medio y Medio
Premium Sauvignon Blanc
Fond de Cave Chardonnay
Merlot Fond de Cave
Tannat del Museo
Fond de Cave Sparkling Wine
Jerez
3-course lunch: starter, main course, and dessert
