Enjoy a unique experience in the heart of the Torcal de Antequera, one of the most spectacular karst landscapes in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this guided geological tour, you'll discover the secrets of this extraordinary natural landscape accompanied by an expert guide in geology.
The activity starts at the steps between the parking lot and the Torcal Alto Visitor Center, where the guide will meet you before setting off on a circular tour lasting about three hours.
Along the way, you'll learn how the sea, the wind, and the rain have sculpted the whimsical shapes that characterize the Torcal over millions of years. You'll discover El Tornillo, the emblem of the site, and the curious formation known as El Sombrero or the UFO, two spectacular examples of natural erosion. The route continues to El Laberinto, an area of twisted rocks and natural passageways where we'll take a short break to rest and enjoy a snack (not included; each participant must bring their own).
We'll continue on until we reach the Amphitheater, one of the most photogenic areas of the trail, surrounded by stone towers that look like sculptures. Just a few meters away, we'll visit the Refugio de Juan Ramón, a former shepherds' shelter that is part of the history of El Torcal. In the final part of the hike, your guide will show you the Montpellier maple, the only specimen of its kind in all of Andalusia, a botanical treasure that survives among the limestone and symbolizes life in extreme conditions.
Throughout the tour, in addition to geological explanations, the guide will share details about the fauna, flora, and history of El Torcal, making the hike a comprehensive and very intimate experience, ideal for families, couples, groups of friends, or anyone curious who wants to understand and enjoy this unique landscape.
The route ends at the same starting point, the Torcal Alto Visitor Center, where you can take the opportunity to rest, visit the shop, or simply admire the views before heading back.
Come and discover the Torcal de Antequera in a different way: an experience that combines science, nature, and excitement in an incomparable setting.
