What you can expect
Experience Takamatsuâs essential highlights in one private guided tour, from the beauty of Ritsurin Garden and Japanâs longest shopping arcade to seaside Takamatsu Castle and the Seto Inland Sea waterfront.
Begin at Ritsurin Garden, one of Japanâs most celebrated historic landscape gardens and a designated Special Place of Scenic Beauty.
Walk through an elegant landscape of ponds, carefully shaped pine trees, bridges, small hills, and seasonal plants against the backdrop of Mt. Shiun. As you explore, discover how generations of feudal lords created a garden designed to reveal a different view with almost every step.
Ritsurin Garden admission is included.
After leaving the garden, continue toward central Takamatsu and enter its famous covered shopping arcades.
Takamatsuâs eight connected shopping streets stretch approximately 2.7 kilometers in total, forming Japanâs longest covered shopping arcade. Explore a selected section filled with local shops, cafés, restaurants, traditional products, and everyday city life.
Along the way, learn about Takamatsuâs famous Sanuki udon culture and get recommendations for local restaurants and specialties to enjoy during or after your visit.
Continue toward Takamatsu Castle, now preserved as Tamamo Park.
Discover one of Japanâs rare seaside castles, where seawater from the Seto Inland Sea flows directly into the moat. Walk through the historic grounds and see stone walls, turrets, gates, and the unusual seawater moat while learning how the castle shaped Takamatsu as both a castle town and port city.
Finish beside Takamatsu Port and the Sunport waterfront.
Look across the Seto Inland Sea, watch ferries travel toward nearby islands, and experience the close connection between Takamatsu and the islands of Setouchi.
The contrast is the heart of the experience: a beautiful daimyo garden, everyday shopping streets, a historic seaside castle, and the open Seto Inland Seaâall in one tour.
Because this is a private experience, the pace can be adjusted to your interests, with time for history, garden scenery, local culture, shopping, food recommendations, or photos.
The tour finishes near Takamatsu Port or JR Takamatsu Station, making it easy to continue toward restaurants, cafés, or ferries to the Setouchi islands.
