What you can expect
Depending upon your hotel location the sightseeing places visit order may change
Explore Fontainhas, the old Latin Quarter of Panjim. This heritage area is famous for its narrow winding streets, colorful Portuguese-style houses, and artistic charm. As you walk through the alleys, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a European town with its tiled roofs, pastel walls, and balconies adorned with bougainvillaea. Stop by small art galleries, heritage homes, or a traditional bakery to experience the local way of life. Fontainhas is a photographer’s delight and a cultural gem in Goa’s urban heart. Later move to Old Goa, you’ll be transported back to the era of Portuguese rule. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the capital of Portuguese India and remains a testament to colonial architecture and Christian heritage. Begin with the Basilica of Bom Jesus, one of the most important religious landmarks in Goa. It houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier and is revered by Catholics worldwide. Its baroque architecture, richly gilded altars, and historical significance make it a must-visit. Next, explore the Sé Cathedral, the largest church in Asia. Dedicated to St. Catherine, it features Portuguese-Gothic architecture, beautiful chapels, and a tranquil courtyard. Also nearby is the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, known for its Portuguese-Manueline style and an attached museum showcasing religious art and artifacts.
Later visit the renowned Shri Mangueshi Temple, located in the village of Mangeshi near Ponda. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the most prominent and sacred Hindu sites in Goa. With its elegant white tower, octagonal lamp tower (deepastambha), and serene surroundings, the temple offers a peaceful and spiritual start to the day. It reflects traditional Goan temple architecture and is known for its calm atmosphere and cultural significance. Later we visit the Shri Shantadurga Temple, located nearby in Kavlem. Dedicated to the goddess Durga in her peaceful form as a mediator between Vishnu and Shiva, this temple complex is expansive and beautifully maintained. The red-colored facade, pillars, and surrounding gardens are a stunning blend of Indo-Portuguese and Hindu architectural styles. It's not just a place of worship but also a cultural landmark for Goans.
