Considered one of the best sporting facilities in the world, Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center) in Downtown Los Angeles is home to 4 professional sports teams—the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks. The state-of-the-art venue has hosted everything from the Stanley Cup Finals to NCAA Basketball Tournaments to the indoor Summer X Games. The venue is also a hotspot for live music, bringing out international superstars such as Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Garth Brooks, and Beyonce. Since 2004, the site has been the permanent home to “Music’s Biggest Night,” the annual Grammy Awards.
Step inside the arena and you’re sure to find something happening on nearly any given night. In fact, Crypto.com Arena hosts more than 250 events and 4 million guests a year, with events also including family-friendly shows and political conventions. However, sports—and especially basketball—are still its biggest ticket. In 2018, the NCAA Basketball Tournament college competition returns, and will again in 2020. Teams will battle it out in the West Regionals Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games to see who will earn a berth in the Men’s Final Four at San Antonio’s Alamodome. In 2028, Crypto.com Arena also hosted the basketball competitions for the Summer Olympics.
