EDC 2023 Returns to Las Vegas

Electric Daisy Carnival, commonly referred to as “EDC” is an electronic dance music festival held all over the world. The flagship event, EDC: Las Vegas is held in May at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It Is currently the largest electronic dance music festival in North America, with an attendance of over 400,000. The festival is over the course of 3-days and showcases the worlds best EDM DJ’s, producers, and musicians. Aside from the live music, attendees can experience 3-D superstructures, glow-in-the-dark environments, and LED shows. The festival has some of the most intense and remarkable lighting.

EDC events have sprung up all over the globe. Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, and India have all hosted EDC festivals. Aside from its wild success in Las Vegas, EDC festivals have also popped up in New York and Orlando, Florida. Stage and set design, as well as different stages for different genres, have all contributed to EDC’s unique experience and success. EDC Las Vegas recently featured 18 carnival rides, four ferries wheels, 8 stages, and an event staff of more than 5,000 people. Ultimately, the 2017 iteration of EDC won Festival of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards.


The Lineup

This year’s lineup features some of the hottest names in EDM. Check out the list below to get a brief look at just some of the many acts who be performing.

Armin van Buuren – The Dutch trance DJ has been a mainstay in the EDM scene since the mid 90’s. His weekly radio A State of Trance is broadcast to nearly 40 million listeners in 84 countries. He has been ranked as the number one DJ by DJ Mag five times, four years in a row. He has a Grammy nomination and has won numerous other accolades.

Zedd – The Russian-born, German DJ has been headlining tours, and playing Las Vegas’ biggest nightclubs since 2015. He is no stranger in the EDM world, and has found success in the pop music world, supporting the likes of Katy Perry, as well as Lady Gaga on their own tours.

Porter Robinson – Since childhood, the North Carolina-born DJ and producer has been creating music. At the age of 18, Robinson signed to fellow DJ and producer Skrillex’s label. Robinson is a huge fan of Japanese anime and culture and often incorporates elements into his music.

Charlotte de Witte – Born in Belgium, de Witte is known for her “dark and stripped down” sound. In early 2021, in a collaborative effort with Formula-1 racing, she streamed from a racetrack in Florence, Italy.

David Guetta – Having sold over 10 million albums, and 65 million singles, not to mention 10 billion streams, Guetta has achieved global stardom in not only the EDM world, but the entire recording industry. He’s worked with Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Ne-Yo, and Ariana Grande just to name a few. He has completely revolutionized the global dance music sound into what it is today.

ILLENIUM – In 2019, this American DJ had a best-selling tour in North America, with over 250,000 tickets sold. ASCEND, his third studio album, reached the Billboard charts within a week of its release; a feat never before seen for an EDM album.

What can I expect at Electric Daisy Carnival?

EDC bring together the top EDM talent in the world to one place. Aside from great music, you can expect an all-out party from the time EDC kicks off to the very last minute of the festival. Attendees travel from all over the world to attend and much like Coachella, attendees will often camp out when attending.

Do you have to camp out at EDC?

No, but beware you will be dealing with the desert heat. You can stay in any number of the hotels in Las Vegas, or bring an RV and stay in Camp EDC.

Is there food available at EDC?

Yes there is. There are food and beverage stands throughout the event with vendors walking throughout selling water and snacks as well. There is also a water refill station available.

What should you bring with you to EDC?

First and foremost bring a hydration pack or a refillable water bottle. It gets HOT in Las Vegas and you will be on your feet dancing. You do not want to suffer from dehydration while at the festival. You should also think about a facemask or bandana. It will help not only block the sun but also any dust or debris that might be in the air. Sunscreen and sunglasses. There's notthing worse htan sunburn and squinting the entire time your favorite DJ is on stage. A portable solar charger is a good idea. You don't want your phone dying and not being able to get in touch with friends or miss out on a great picture. They are also waterproof and dustproof making them withstand festival conditions.
