As a founding member of the Southeastern Conference, the Kentucky Wildcats have of a long tradition of excellence in sports that range from football to cheerleading to rifle. The Lexington-based university is especially renowned for men’s basketball—a team with 8 NCAA Tournament titles, second only behind UCLA. The squad also leads the NCAA with an all-time victory record and was the first-ever team to win more than 2,000 games. Outside basketball, Kentucky is also known for track and field, gymnastics, volleyball, and rifle. Since 2007, softball coach Rachel Lawson has become the winningest coach in the school's history, leading her team to the 2014 College World Series.
