The Texas Tech Red Raiders are founding members of the Big 12 Conference, and they regularly produce competitive teams for all 17 of the university’s varsity sports. The various athletic squads have brought home 68 conference championships as well as 4 national titles. The women’s basketball team, the Lady Raiders, are responsible for the university’s only official NCAA championship, since the rest of the titles belong to club teams. Sheryl Swoopes—gold medal winner, WNBA champion, and all-around superstar—led the Lady Raiders to victory in the 1993 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Be sure to pick up an affordable ticket to the United Supermarkets Arena to watch the team fight their way into another tournament.
As is the case in the rest of the state, football is a hot ticket for Texas Tech. With 38 bowl appearances, Texas Tech is one of the top 15 football programs in NCAA history, and the fans remember it every time they sing “Fight, Raiders, Fight” at Jones AT&T Stadium. The Red Raiders men’s basketball team has gone to the NCAA Tournament 15 times, including 4 appearances under the direction of legendary coach Bobby Knight. If you’re looking for some baseball action, grab a great ticket for Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Lubbock’s home team is also known for exceptional club sports, including rodeo and polo, both of which have won national collegiate titles. Golf, soccer, volleyball, and tennis are additional sporting options for anyone looking to get a Red Raiders ticket.
