Lundy Pet-friendly Vacations

Phoned them on the Friday before we arrived asking if we needed to book a table for dinner for the night we were staying and was advised no we could just book when we checked in. Checked in on the Sunday and asked about dinner only to be told the restaurant was fully booked but they have a bar which accepts walk ins - not ideal when we had our 2 and 5 year old with us we needed to be able to guarantee we could feed! When I booked the site said ‘great for families’ - there is nothing for children to do and our ‘family room’ was clearly actually not actually intended for families as there was not even a bath! And what would have been a lovely feature of a balcony except our view was of two skips! Meal at the bar - ordered the children first so they could eat while we had a drink. Told 20-30 mins wait, more like 30-40. Ordered our food at 5.15 (about 15 mins after the children), told 30-40 mins, waited an hour and still no food for us. My husband enquired at the bar and turns out the kitchen didn’t even have our order! Then turns out there was no halloumi as ordered for the warm pasta salad. Another 25-30 mins and our food finally appeared, with an offer of a free round of drinks but by then with young kids in tow we needed to eat and run to get them to bed. As we left just before 7pm the restaurant was still largely empty, fully booked or just not for families? Overall a disappointing experience.

Narrow roads down country lanes so slightly isolated lovely cosy room and breakfast was excellent especially the poached eggs. Stayed there as going to a wedding in the area

A completely 5-star experience. Every member of staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful. Valet parking as standard, slick and efficient reception, immaculate room which was serviced at least twice per day, beautiful pool, steam room and sauna. The grounds were immaculate and a joy to explore. Both restaurants served top class meals. Total luxury from end to end. That all comes with a sizeable price tag, and service charge on everything, but the experience is worth every penny. We personally recommend booking early for the restaurants and Spa treatments, you can do this way in advance of your visit. We treated ourselves to a massage at the Elan Spa and it was professional and very relaxing. Highly recommend.

Perfect location for another of our short Theatre stays in Sidmouth, we had a great stopover which also included a dip in the sea just over the road from the hotel. Our room was perfect, (we have stayed in this room previously) lovely large comfy bed, super clean and equipped bathroom, shower pressure was a little low maybe due to the weather not sure, however all perfect for our stay and once again the staff were lovely and very helpful. Thanks

Previously a mercury standards have slipped.. lift out of order we were placed on first floor. Room was presumably intended as a single as only 1 towel. Could not find hairdryer and shower not bot enough very noisy machine outside window all night soundedike something to do with air con Only two teabags. Worn carpet on stairs. Also a q2.50 charge to leave car jn carport previously a free service. Verdict. Don't bother they are chasing to save cadh

We were greeted with a handshake which is always a good start. Our hosts, Neil and Rosemarie were welcoming and eager to make sure our stay was a good one. Our room was spacious as was the bathroom and shower. We were pleased with the coffee machine and the fridge on the landing for the cold milk. The small touches are what makes this hotel a special one. The bar downstairs proved popular to watch the world cup and we appreciated the hospitality during the evening. Breakfast was cooked to order and taken on the deck. The swimming pool was excellent. Car parking is easy and plentiful. One small point is that we would have appreciated a fan in our room which was very hot. Given the extremely high temperatures we are all experiencing it might be something to consider for the future. Otherwise everything was absolutely fine and of a very high standard.
