Narrow roads down country lanes so slightly isolated lovely cosy room and breakfast was excellent especially the poached eggs. Stayed there as going to a wedding in the area

Great hotel to stay in, lovely staff , rooms and excellent food whether it be breakfast or dinner. Also a good location and parking spot included. We will definitely return.

Incredible 18th Manor with vineyard and park. A wonderful surprise

We came to Torquay for a wedding and just needed somewhere to sleep for 2 nights. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Charlie who couldn't be more helpful. The room was beautifully decorated with everything we could need and more. Lovely touches of bottles of water, biscuits, a flask of milk. Even cotton pads were provided. We were given a menu for the breakfast which was delicious and again nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend the homemade granola! Thank you Julie-Ann and Charlie for a lovely stay! X

Reception, activities desk and Charlie (archery) were the highlights. The falconry was also brilliant. Food highly mediocre and service in their restaurants - namely the Brasserie and the Oak Room - was quite bad. I wouldn’t have paid the service charge but they brought the bill out and had me sign before we got our food. Order wasn’t correct, took a while to correct, they gave us the wrong bill (someone else’s), etc. There was no service. No one check on us, made sure our order was correct and so on. It’s probably hard to get good staff. I would stay here again only because of the location and the outdoor activities - castle is lovely and our room was very nice and spacious, and had a bath and a shower.

We were greeted with a handshake which is always a good start. Our hosts, Neil and Rosemarie were welcoming and eager to make sure our stay was a good one. Our room was spacious as was the bathroom and shower. We were pleased with the coffee machine and the fridge on the landing for the cold milk. The small touches are what makes this hotel a special one. The bar downstairs proved popular to watch the world cup and we appreciated the hospitality during the evening. Breakfast was cooked to order and taken on the deck. The swimming pool was excellent. Car parking is easy and plentiful. One small point is that we would have appreciated a fan in our room which was very hot. Given the extremely high temperatures we are all experiencing it might be something to consider for the future. Otherwise everything was absolutely fine and of a very high standard.
