A very traditional old fashioned hotel in an excellent location on the sea front. Unfortunately we did not get the room we had booked. We booked a deluxe double or twin with sea view. Our confirmation from Expedia clearly showed a photo of the room type we had booked as did their website. We had also checked the hotels own website which also showed the deluxe sea view room and described it has having more space. On being shown to our room on the top floor it was clearly not the room we had booked. Referring to the Expedia website it was the same as the photo shown for a double room sea view for single use. We checked with reception who maintained the room was ‘deluxe’ on pointing out the obvious discrepancy the receptionist said had we approached them direct the issue could have been resolved but the hotel was full so nothing could be done! We contacted the Expedia online chat but they were unable to resolve the matter. We then asked to speak with the manager and on the next day we met with what turned out to be the newish owner. He would not admit the mistake but insisted it was the service and not the room that mattered although he mentioned the many people he had given an upgrade to! He offered us a complimentary dinner but was unable to give us the correct room. We can provide photographic evidence of the room we occupied which clearly is not a deluxe room we booked and paid for. The final evidence being our bill which described our room ‘twin room sea view’.
