Was glad to have a room for a week. Convenient location with accessible public transit. The river was also just across the street, and I loved going there to watch the ducks. My only two concerns were (1) the bed wasn’t really comfortable and (2) the room had a cooktop but no pots or pans.

Check in was a nightmare. There is no live staff, only automated kiosks. One didn’t work at all. The other finally functioned but informed that the room was being cleaned and not yet ready- at 9:00 PM!!! The help line was actually helpful, and another room was made available. However, the listing said there was AC, but no thermostat or controls in the room, and the place was roasting hot. Opening a window helped but there was a lot of traffic noise. The restaurant was closed and nearby options were not excellent. Last, the parking garage entrance was too low for a standard sized van, small cars only. So not at all an ideal experience.

The hotel Marthof was not only a beautiful but also it was located in the heart of old Basel. We really appreciated the room upgrade and the delicious complimentary breakfast. Highly recommend!

The location of this hotel is a stone’s throw away from the main train station and is a transport hub. So it is very convenient. The room is large and very oddly has an exercise bike in it. The bathroom is very basic. The weirdest thing was the door to the room opens out which made me feel a little insecure (in case of an unauthorized entry). There is no fridge in the room. However the staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. This includes the receptionists as well as those serving breakfast. Five stars for their service!

A very nice place, clean, simple room, everywhere well maintained, friendly helpful staff. Nice garden to have breakfast in and the hotel is in a good location, just outside the city centre (which means it's quiet in the evenings) but only 5-10 minutes' walk from the centre (depending how fast you walk). The location also affects the price, which was very reasonable. The only thing we would have liked to have - in view of the unusually high temperatures - was AC but other than that, wonderful!
