Weekend getaways in Douro Valley

Amazing stay. Wonderful amenities in the room and common areas. Breathtaking views of the Douro valley from the floor-to—ceiling windows in our room, which was spacious and well appointed. Ana and Marco are gracious hosts who think of everything to make their guests comfortable. They gave us superlative recommendations for dinner and sightseeing. 10+

My family (2 adults, 1 child) really enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and rich culture and history of this part of the Douro Valley. Maria was a wonderful host, and she was especially helpful in finding a particular, fairly new viewpoint in the Douro Valley and just in providing helpful information for things to do and things to eat. We really want to come back when we choose to visit Portugal again in the future.

We had a fantastic stay. It was low season and the owners treated us like family. The food was great, the room was nice though so be aware the open concept means the shower and toilet are basically in the same room.

We stayed at the Quinta S. Bernardo in late September and we can’t say enough about this property! The property is just beautiful with a stunning view of the Douro River and surrounded by the vineyards. The Quinta is family owned and lovingly and beautifully designed and decorated. All our meals were straight from the farm, from the breakfast to the lunches to the exquisite dinners made by the chef, everything was incredibly fresh. PROS -fantastic host.. Jose was simply awesome -beautiful venue. short drive from Regua -comfortable bed and soft bedding -lots of hot water and great pressure One of the best B&B's we've stayed at in Portugal. I can't find anything negative to say. We highly recommend!

The city of Armamar is quite sleepy and small. For us, this location was wonderfully convenient for the wineries we were visiting. But if you are hoping to walk around at night for night life, this may not be the town for you. The PINTA boutique hotel was beautifully decorated and in great condition. The staff was also communicative, and there is a small but convenient free parking light just behind the property. My husband actually took a job interview (via Zoom) from the common area/breakfast...

Everything about this property felt special—from the stunning location and breathtaking views to the serene atmosphere, charming rooms, and outstanding amenities like the pool, hot tub, and sauna. It’s truly the most beautiful place I’ve stayed in Portugal. The owners, Paul and his wife, were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and full of local knowledge, which made the experience even more memorable. I can’t recommend this place enough—it’s the most peaceful retreat you could hope for.

Great check in process, got a vineyard tour and tasting included with our stay and the tour guide was awesome! Really enjoyed our balcony view of the river and valley.

Meticulously clean property, quiet, relaxing, and professionally managed hotel. I have nothing but superlatives to say about our experience in Favaios. The town itself is worth the trip and the people are among the most friendly I have encountered in Portugal. Even the dogs are mellow. We will return.

We had a very nice stay here. The property is small, so it is quiet (I believe only a total of 4 rooms). The views from the property are immaculate. There are such pretty views of the duoro river. In the morning, a homemade breakfast of eggs, meats, and fresh fruits is available. I will say that it is not possible to walk from the property to any restaurants or wineries, but taxis seems to be readily available. Overall, we had a wonderful stay

The place was really quiet and the view was stunning. The breakfast was really good as well with most food being locally sourced. The Panoramic Villa was nice, there was a bit of a misunderstanding at first when the host showed us the Villa but was resolved afterwards. Also the shower seemed to be stucked to really hot temperature but adding a little force to the other side of the fosset did fix it to more reasonable temperatures.
