This 2-day tour takes you on a beautiful and exciting journey from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, to the thick green forests of Uganda, where the rare and powerful mountain gorillas live.

You will drive through rolling hills, quiet villages, and mountain views, cross the border into Uganda, and sleep near the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The next morning, you’ll go on a guided forest hike to find and spend time with a gorilla family. Watching these gentle giants in the wild is a powerful and emotional experience, something you’ll never forget. This trip is perfect for travelers who are short on time but want to see Africa’s most amazing wildlife up close.

Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi—Journey to the Jungle

Your guide will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel or the airport in Kigali. If you like, you can take a short tour of the city—visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history, or stop by a local craft market.

Then you’ll leave the city and drive through Rwanda’s famous “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Along the way, you’ll see green farmland, quiet mountain villages, and smiling children waving as you pass. You’ll cross the border into Uganda, where the landscape becomes even more wild and forested.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at your lodge near Bwindi Forest. The air is fresh, the forest is alive with birds and monkeys, and you can feel the excitement of what’s to come. Relax with a warm meal, enjoy the views from your room, and rest up for tomorrow’s big adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali

Wake up early for a big breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for your gorilla trek. You’ll join a small group and meet your trained guide and ranger, who will explain the rules and help prepare you for the trek.

Then the real adventure begins! You’ll hike through the jungle, climbing over roots, crossing streams, and walking under tall trees as you follow signs left by the gorillas. The forest is thick and beautiful, filled with birds and other wildlife.

When your guide finds the gorilla family, you’ll leave your bags and quietly move closer. You will spend one full hour with the gorillas. Watch them play, eat, care for their babies, and rest. Some may look you in the eye. Some may come very close. It’s a powerful and personal moment, being face-to-face with a wild mountain gorilla.

After the trek, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch, then drive back to Kigali through the same scenic route. You’ll arrive in the evening, with your heart full and your memory card full of photos.
