Description

Cultured and cosmopolitan, South Australia's capital city is framed by parkland and filled with striking modern and Old World architecture. Add world-class food and wine to a buzzing arts scene, and it's easy to see why Adelaide is consistently ranked among the most livable cities in the world.

Hop aboard a comfortable coach, and set out to explore this coastal capital, getting a lay of the land and picking up tips from your guide on where to come back to later. As you cruise up wide boulevards and down beachfront avenues, your guide shares facts about the city's vibrant festival culture, religious and political history, and mix of contemporary and European architecture.

Ride down the North Terrace cultural boulevard, passing by stately institutions like the State Library of South Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, and the University of Adelaide. Drive by the National Wine Centre, built to resemble a section of a wine barrel, and admire the verdant expanse of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and the Bicentennial Conservatory behind it.

Hop off to admire the Gothic Revival façade of St Peter's Cathedral, with its ornate rose window and soaring, gargoyle-adorned towers. Then, leave the church for a different kind of sacred space—the Adelaide Oval. This contemporary stadium plays frequent host to rugby, soccer, football, and cricket matches.

Your final stop is at Haigh’s Chocolates, where you can tour the chocolate factory for an up-close look at artisans crafting cocoa confections. Sample some of their delicious wares before returning to the city via the South Parklands and West Terrace.

A good overview of the city and the major attractions. Maybe less time required at the Cathedral. Loved the Haigh's chocolate factory.
