Activity itinerary

Queens Public Library at Broadway
  • 10m
Make sure to come hungry! We’ll meet right in front of the Queens Library on Broadway. It’s easy to find, close to the R/M train via Steinway Station. Feel free to use the bathroom here before the tour begins! (Please note: The library is closed on Sundays, but we will still meet outside in the same spot.)
La Casa del Sabor Bakery Restaurant
  • 5m
As we introduce each other and get a run down of the tour, we will eat Pandebono straight from the local bakery. It is warm, cheesy, and slightly chewy. The outside is lightly crispy while the inside melts in your mouth. It's a comforting bite that locals crave every day. It is a warm, chewy Colombian cheese bread made from yucca flour and queso fresco. It’s naturally gluten-free and has a slightly crispy outside with a soft, cheesy center. Although we will not visit the bakery This is a beloved comfort snack in Colombian households!
Mrs. Georgia
  • 10m
Steaming, hand-twisted Georgian dumplings filled with savory meat and rich broth. You’ll learn the traditional way to eat one without spilling a drop. Juicy and flavorful, these dumplings are a local favorite among Astoria’s Georgian community and a must-try for first-time visitors.
Moroccan Bites by Siham
  • 15m
A Moroccan delicacy: flaky, golden pastry filled with spiced chicken, caramelized onions, and toasted almonds, dusted with a hint of cinnamon sugar. Sweet, savory, crunchy, and soft all at once, this dish surprises the taste buds and showcases Morocco’s rich culinary traditions.
Mediterranean Foods
  • 15m
Step inside one of Astoria’s iconic Mediterranean markets filled with Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern ingredients. Discover olives, cheeses, fresh pita, spices, and local pastries. I’ll guide you through the aisles like a local, pointing out must-try snacks and items that neighborhood families use every day.
Ten Ichi Mart
  • 10m
Explore a small Japanese grocery that feels like stepping into Tokyo. Find unique snacks, onigiri, mochi, instant ramen flavors you won’t find anywhere else, and essential ingredients from Japanese kitchens. I’ll highlight popular items and share how locals use them in everyday meals.
United Brothers Fruit Markets
  • 5m
A true neighborhood staple! It’s known for affordable produce, fresh juices, flowers, and tons of unique drinks and snacks. We stop here to grab local made New York apple juice. This apple juice is sourced from a New York orchard and tastes like fresh cider. It’s crisp, refreshing, and not overly sweet!
Between the Bagel NY
  • 15m
This stop blends Korean flavors with a classic New York bagel. Savory fillings like bulgogi, kimchi cream cheese, and spicy Korean sauces paired with the chewiness of an NYC style everything bagel. It’s fun, unexpected, and represents Astoria’s multicultural roots!
King Souvlaki
  • 10m
Juicy, smoky grilled meat marinated in traditional Greek herbs and cooked over charcoal. One bite and you’ll understand why Astoria is known for its authentic Greek cuisine. Perfectly tender, flavorful, and straight from the neighborhood grill.
Parisi Bakery
  • 5m
We finish on a sweet note with a classic Italian cannoli: a crisp pastry shell filled with creamy, lightly sweetened ricotta and dusted with powdered sugar. Freshly made and delightfully indulgent, it’s the perfect finale to a multicultural culinary adventure.
