Description

Venture to some of the most beautiful and remote areas in Kauai for breathtaking scenery and backcountry mountain tubing. As your knowledgeable guide shares stories of the island's history, sit back, relax, and float down a century-old waterway made of open ditches, tunnels, and flumes.

Arrive at the former Lihue Plantation to find a water system designed and hand-dug by plantation workers in 1870. After closing the 17,000-acre plantation, some of the waterways were converted into intricate backcountry tubing networks to be enjoyed by adventure seekers from around the world.

When you’re ready, don a headlamp and grab an inner tube for a ride full of tunnels, “splash zones,” and a lazy river. As you gently float on your inner tube through the canals, soak in views of waterfalls, coastline, lush mountain sides, and deep-green valleys. Hear stories of the plantation’s history and learn about Kauai's Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest spots in the world.

After your 3-hour journey along the tropical waterway, enjoy a picnic lunch in the shade and play a few fun outdoor games like cornhole and horseshoes.

Fun experience, great staff, great views, great family adventure. However, you really only tube for about an hour. Near the end, there is water pouring into the channel where you are tubing that smells like sewage. Both of my kids had diarrhea a few hours later, but can't be sure if related. Its a bit overpriced for what you get.

This was the highlight of our trip. Damian our tour guide was beyond amazing, funny and very welcoming and knowledgeable and so were the two other tour gals (Macy and Sheryl, I believe) that went In the water with us. Will definitely do it again next time we are Kauai.
