The Giza Pyramid Complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is situated on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. Constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom—around 2600 to 2500 BC—these monumental structures are accompanied by ancient cemeteries and the remains of a workers’ village that supported their construction. Located on the edge of the Western Desert, the complex sits roughly 9 kilometers west of the Nile River in the city of Giza and about 13 kilometers southwest of central Cairo. In 1979, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby ruins of the ancient capital, Memphis.
