      What you can expect

Just one hour and thirty minutes from La Fortuna, across the plains of San Carlos, we find this beautiful place, popularly known as “National Park of Water”. Surrounded by cloud forests at more than 2000 meters (6560 ft.) above sea leveland with an average temperature of 16 to 22C (60 - 72F), this is the place where the primary rivers of the northern region of Costa Rica originate. It is categorized as the tenth most important fresh water body on the planet. Our personalized naturalist tours and the scenic beauty of the area make an excellent combination for this hike.

The Juan Castro Blanco National Park is a good place for bird watching; among the treasures you may find is the spectacular Quetzal (Pharomachrus Mocinno), characteristic for its majestic plumage of colors. March and April are the best months for observing Quetzals.

We will enjoy the 3 km (2 mi.) trail for about 2 hours while learning about the characteristics of the cloud forest, as well as the importance of this delightful place for the entire northern region of Costa Rica. The tour will end with a delicious lunch in the middle of the Costa Rican cloud forest before returning to La Fortuna.
