What you can expect
Open the gates to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and admire the legendary, ancient Maya town. Tucked deep in the Yucatan jungle, Chichén Itzá—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—is now regarded as a symbol of a fascinating civilization.
During a 3-hour tour of one of the most visited ruins, learn how Chichén Itzá was constructed in phases and marvel at the site which boasts the most diverse set of Maya architecture in one location. See an array of monumental buildings such as the well-known Pyramid of Kukulcan and the Observatory.
Look in awe over the massive Temple of the Warriors, one of the site's most important structures, which has 200 square columns with a Toltec warrior carved in each one. See the Great Ball Court. Stop and imagine the cheers from the crowd as players engaged in competitive games presided by their king. After the tour, you will visit a local restaurant to enjoy an included buffet.
You'll head to the refreshing Yokdzonot Cenote for a swim. Cenotes are natural sinkholes resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes fresh water underneath, After the Cenote visit, board the vehicle back to Merida. You'll return to your hotel at approximately 5:30 pm.
