Enhance your visit with a 3D multimedia video as an introduction to Ancient Rome, showcasing the reconstruction of the most important monuments of the Eternal City. Begin your experience with a 30-minute Multimedia Video (produced by a company known for creating videos for UNESCO, BBC, and National Geographic) that graphically illustrates how Rome appeared thousands of years ago during the Roman Empire. Let the video transport you back in time to Ancient Rome, which will help you better appreciate the ruins of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill you’ll explore later.
After the Multimedia Video, you will be accompanied by dedicated Touristation staff to the entrance of the Roman Forum to assist you with security and ticketing procedures. Once inside, explore at your leisure the Roman Forum Ruins, where ancient Romans once lived. Continue to the Palatine Hill, the site of Rome’s founding and where emperors and kings built their magnificent palaces.
After approximately two hours in the Archaeological Area, head to the Arena. The arena itself was an engineering marvel, designed to hold up to 80,000 spectators. Beneath the sand-covered floor lies an intricate network of tunnels and chambers that once housed gladiators, animals, and even elaborate sets for mock naval battles. The arena floor was covered with sand (known as “harena” in Latin, from which the word “arena” is derived) to absorb the blood and provide better traction for the combatants.
Your experience doesn’t end there! Feel free to join the city walking tour, available every day at 10:00 AM (only in English). The itinerary includes Navona Square, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain.
