Experience Highlights
✨ Stop 1 – Spiritual Welcome to Cotopaxi: Just outside the entrance to Cotopaxi National Park, we begin with an optional coca tea to help you adjust to the altitude. A native guide will greet us with ceremonial chants, asking “Pachamama” for permission to enter—a beautiful moment rooted in Andean spirituality.
✨ Stop 2 – At the Foot of Cotopaxi Volcano: We drive to the base of the Cotopaxi volcano, where we’ll take part in a traditional Andean dance accompanied by native music. What is Cotopaxi? Cotopaxi is one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. Its name means “Neck of the Moon,” and it’s revered by indigenous communities as a sacred guardian of the Andes. Cotopaxi is an active stratovolcano it reaches an elevation of 5,897 meters (19,347 feet) above sea level. National Park: Cotopaxi is part of the Cotopaxi National Park, which covers a vast area surrounding the volcano. The park is a protected area known for its diverse ecosystems.
✨ Stop 3 – Limpiopungo Lagoon Walk: Enjoy a gentle walk around this high-altitude lagoon, perfect for singles, couples and families with children. Discover the unique paramo ecosystem and its wildlife—wolves, foxes, wild horses, and, with luck, the elusive spectacled bear or soaring Andean condor.
✨ Stop 4 – Quilotoa Lagoon & Scenic Viewpoint: We head to the stunning Quilotoa crater lake. From a cozy restaurant viewpoint, relax with homemade empanadas and a warm drink while admiring the turquoise waters. What is Quilotoa? Formed by a volcanic eruption over 800 years ago, this crater lake is famous for its shifting colors and dramatic beauty stunning emerald green color. Surrounded by a 3 km-wide rim, it’s one of Ecuador’s most photogenic spots.
✨ Stop 5 - After the break, we’ll walk along the crater’s edge, with natural photo spots and optional paid viewpoints for unforgettable memories.
As the sun begins to set, we return to Quito for your personalized drop-off.
