We begin our journey in the early morning hours with a pickup from your preferred meeting place in Stavanger. While being transported to the trailhead, we drive through pastoral landscapes and little villages. After driving for about 3 hours, we arrive at the Eagle’s Nest trailhead, where there are restrooms. At the parking area we also receive our packed lunches (please provide your dietary restrictions well in advance of the tour day). The guide will give a briefing for the day ahead, and then the hike begins!
If you book during the early months of the year, the trail will often be covered in ice, and snow that fell during the cold and unforgiving winter season. If you book at the end of the year, the mountain foliage will glow in yellow and orange. The hike takes you through various terrain, some of which can be a bit technical to traverse. If you have no experience hiking in mountains, this might not be the hike for you. Please contact us about this if you have any doubts or concerns.
During the hike we can drink from the mountain books, greet the happy sheep that meander in the hills, and enjoy the fresh air in peace. Since our tour begins so early, it means there are no crowds to contend with.
Our first stop is at Kjerag Boulder, which is the main tourist attraction up on the massif. Here the guide will show you the safest way to get onto the boulder, if the conditions permit it, and if you choose to do it. The guide will happily take photos for you with your camera or phone, but we also offer a photography package as an optional add-on.
After visiting the Boulder, we head off to our lunch spot, Nesatind. Here we enjoy our packed lunches while soaking in the breathtaking view of Lysefjorden (weather permitting).
We finally hike down and return to Eagle’s Nest parking area, and head back to Stavanger.
