Paddle in North Norwegian scenery
After 1-hour drive on the Arctic Route bus from Tromsø to Sommarøy, you are in for the best outdoor activity: Sea kayaking is probably the best activity to experience Sommarøy and its gorgeous coastal scenery. Paddle around to explore the turquoise waters and islands. This guided tour starts upon arrival at 10:15 am. You get equipped you and taught the tricks to kayak safely. Once you are fully geared up, we take you to some of the local spots only accessible by kayak or boat.
You will spend about two hours on the water. We also go ashore to enjoy the amazing white sandy beaches of Sommarøy. Bring a snack and some drinks to refuel during your relaxing break on the island and a towel if you dare to have an Arctic swim!
Lunch at Sommarøy Hotel
After your paddle adventure, regain full force with the best fish soup in the area, at the panorama-view 'Sommarøy Hotel', a 3-minute walk from the kayak centre.
Stroll, walk, hike .. or sauna
The area around the hotel and island is a hiking paradise. You will receive hike information to go out on your own in the area. Access to the public sauna in the hotel is included in your outdoor day, to relax your muscles and mind. A true Scandinavian experience. If you like to have dinner at the hotel, we recommend reserving a table (dinner not included).
The bus to Tromsø picks you up at 19:10 (7.10pm) - back in Tromsø at 20:25 (8.25pm).
Unique offer: full transport from and back to Tromsø is included with our Arctic Route hop-on/hop-off bus - own transport is not needed to join this tour.
Time schedule
08:45 - Departure from Tromsø center - transport with Arctic Route bus (number 930) - meet up 08:30 (am)
10:05 - Arrival at the kayak center
10:15 - 12:45 - Kayak preparation + paddle tour
13:00 - 14:30 - Lunch at Sommarøy Hotel (400 meters from the kayak center)
14:30 - 19:00 - Explore the area by foot (free time) / public sauna at the hotel
19:10 - 20:25 - Scenic route back to Tromsø (bus stop in front of hotel)
