Full-Day City Tour with Admission to Tokyo Tower

by Japan Oriental Tours Duration 8h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $128

Enjoy breathtaking views from a lofty tower, sip morning tea in beautiful gardens, and grab a Japanese-style barbecue lunch. Your delightful tour of Tokyo also includes visits to the astonishing Imperial Palace, the ancient Sensō-ji Temple, and the colorful shops of Nakamise Shopping Street.

Start your day at the world’s tallest self-supporting steel structure, the Tokyo Tower. Admire the striking red edifice before you ascend to the main observatory for panoramic vistas of the city from 475 feet (145 m) above the ground.

At Happo-en Garden, sip traditional morning tea, with lush gardens and koi ponds as your backdrop. Have lunch at a local café—featuring barbecue cuisine—before heading to the Imperial Palace Plaza, the official residence of Japan’s royal family.

When you arrive, view the stonework of the Nijubashi Bridge and take a stroll around the outside court to see the Edo Castle, where the Tokugawa shoguns once ruled. Afterward, enjoy a scenic leisure cruise along the Sumida River before making your way to the Asakusa district. If you’re lucky enough to visit in early April, replace your river cruise with a side trip to the gorgeous cherry blossoms in Sumida Park.

Head to Sensō-ji Temple—Japan’s most popular and vibrant Buddhist temple. Stand in awe of the majestic 5-storied pagodas in the main hall. Before wrapping up your tour at Tokyo Station, browse for local souvenirs as you pace down Nakamise Shopping Street.

Overall it was OK but not quite "in-depth" enough for us. MAKE SURE you reach out to the tour agency for hotel pickup. If you don't, it's up to you to get to the bus station. When I did reach out to them, they were outstanding in coordinating the pickup and very friendly. The trip to Tokyo Tower was a bit underwhelming. It was so crowded and our group was about 20 people so we couldn't hear our tour guide. Next we went to a tea ceremony. The tea ceremony itself was just OK but the gardens around it were beautiful and made for a nice stroll. Lunch at a hotel barbecue joint was DELICIOUS. The Emperor's Palace portion is NOT a tour of the inside of the palace but a walk to a bridge that is about 400 meters away from the palace. It's in a nice park but not much to it. Boat tour was awful. Crowded and nothing to it. Finally we went to a shrine/souvenir street. It's the typical stuff you'd expect for sale to tourists like chopstick sets, fans, Asian dolls, snacks, etc.
