Meet the indigenous Embera tribe on this journey into the heart of native Panamanian culture. Take a canoe ride upriver to the Embera’s remote jungle village to discover the stories, dances, and crafts of this vibrant community.

After being picked up from your hotel, leave the city behind and ride through the picturesque countryside until you reach the banks of the river that winds through the Chagres National park. Meet members of the Embera tribe, who help you step into a sturdy dugout piragua canoe. Ride upriver for an hour, keeping your eyes peeled for toucans, sloths, and monkeys in the trees, until you arrive at the remote village of the Embera people.

Experience the rich culture of the Embera tribe as you listen to stories, watch traditional dances, and enjoy a traditional meal of fried fish or chicken and patacones (fried plantains). Marvel at the craftsmanship of baskets woven from natural fibers and figures carved from cocobolo wood. Learn about the lifestyle of the Embera, which has remained largely unchanged for centuries, and participate in a ceremonial tradition by getting a temporary tattoo with ink made from fruit juice.

Make your way to a cascading waterfall in the rainforest where you can take a refreshing dip before returning to your hotel.

The tours was very organized and the customer service was excellent. The scenery was spectacular, loved the waterfall and the trip down the river. Our time at the Embera community was informative, relaxing and fun! Loved the dancing and the display of handcrafts. The food was delicious. Best of all, our guide, Manuel, was very knowledgeable, service oriented and fun! Great tour - would highly reccomend!

Boat trip is a peaceful glide down the river then an energetic walk up the riverbed over little rocks and crossing the river. Then a boat trip back to the village greeted by the villagers an a delicious fresh fish lunch.
