Escape to the countryside around Luang Prabang as you hike through bamboo forests and paddle into the lush Nam Khan River Valley.
Your adventure begins when your expert guide meets you at your hotel and takes you to the scenic banks of the Nam Khan River. Board a boat and cross the river to reach the trailhead for your trek through the jungle, bamboo forest, and rice fields. After making your way through tropical terrain, stop at a Khmu village. The Khmu people live in the mountainous highlands of Laos and are known for being welcoming and generous. Don't be shy, as the guide is there to help facilitate communication and understanding.
After exploring the village, continue your hike to Tad Sae Waterfall. During the rainy season, you can watch the rushing water crashing down the rocky cascade. In drier times, the falls slow down, but the pools at the bottom fill with crystal-clear water. No matter when you go, you have a chance to go for a refreshing swim and possibly spot elephants as they wander over to get a drink.
The next place you go to is the Tiger Trail Adventure Camp, where you start your kayaking excursion with a safety briefing and some paddling tips from your experienced guide. Venture down the river, observing the verdant vegetation and friendly locals as they go about their daily activities on the river. Whether you are an avid kayaker or are new to the paddle, there are plenty of sights to see before you are driven back to your hotel.
