Description

A high-speed train whisks you away from Beijing to Tianjin on this full-day trip. Hear fascinating stories about the port city’s trade-centric past, and get the chance to visit popular sites such as the Porcelain House, the Jingyuan Gardens, and the Five Great Avenues.

A driver picks you up from your Beijing hotel and escorts you to a nearby train station, where you hop on a high-speed bullet train to Tianjin. Meet your guide at the Tianjin train station and make your way to the first stop at the Porcelain House. More than 4,000 pieces of ancient porcelain dating back to the Han Dynasty decorate this 100-year-old villa.

Next, stroll around the beautiful gardens of Jingyuan, a 36,000-square-foot (3,350-sq-m) courtyard surrounding a 2-story Spanish-inspired building. The 1929 gardens originally served as a primary residence to the minister of Japan, Lu Zongyu, and now display historical artifacts that belonged to the last emperor of China.

Next, proceed to Tianjin’s upscale Five Great Avenues. Colorful Renaissance, Gothic, and Greek buildings line the streets, traces of the city’s heyday as a hub for countries in Western Europe. Your final stop is the Ancient Cultural Street, where you can browse local shops offering food, art, and linens. Your guide escorts you back to the Tianjin train station for the return trip to Beijing, where a driver meets you at the train station to take you back to your hotel.
