Knock out 2 of Iceland's bucket list items on this combo adventure set on the stunning shores of Lake Laugarvatn. Enjoy a soothing dip in warm geothermal baths, an authentic Icelandic buffet, and the chance to observe the otherworldly, magnificent aurora borealis, or Northern Lights.

Embark on your trip to the Laugarvatn Fontana—a lakefront spa boasting striking architecture, Icelandic stone artwork, and modern amenities. Once there, change into your swimsuit and then head to the spa's geothermal pools and steam baths, where you can take in views of snow-capped peaks and the mirror-like waters of Laugarvatn.

Dry off after your soak and then head inside to feast on a country buffet featuring fresh-smoked trout, homemade cakes, and rye bread baked in underground, geothermal ovens along the lake's shores. With a full stomach, bundle up or return to the steam baths to await the evening's entertainment—the vivid and twirling lights of the aurora borealis. Snap photos of the dancing colors, chat with your guide about what natural phenomenon create their vibrant displays, and then make a late return to Reykjavik and your hotel.

I wasn't expecting packet cous cous and pasta in the 'Icelandic buffet. The lava baked bread was non existent and was told they only make so much each day. We were on a pre booked trip so they knew were coming and had paid, so why not keep some back or make more! It is a headline feature of the trip. A massive let down. Thankfully we took our own towels as the state of their expensive towels and robes to rent you wouldn't use on your dog. Staff were the only grumpy people we met in Iceland and there was no one else there apart from us. They didn't even turn the fairy lights on when the light went at 9.00pm. Wish we'd gone to blue lagoon or the natural one which Rick stein went to.

Fontana spa excellent but no northern light due to fog, with no opportunity to rebook. Tour operator obviously New as other northern light excursions only were cancelled on same day as we discovered after.
