What you can expect
Guided 1-day walk on Banks Peninsula, a spectacular extinct volcano less than 30 minutes from Christchurch City. Enjoy a fabulous walk with breathtaking scenery and a gourmet picnic lunch at a picturesque location along the way. Our local guides will have every base covered and ensure this day is a trip highlight.
You will be picked up from you inner city accommodation by your guide in a 12 seater van. On the 30 minute drive to Sumner/Lyttelton where your walk will commence, you will be entertained with the history of Christchurch, including personal experiences from your guide. Hot drinks are provided at a local café, then you commence your walk, during which there will be plenty of photo opportunities, and a chance to hear all about the history of the area.
Visit the Crater Rim surrounding the caldera of the ancient volcano. Take in amazing views of the rugged Pacific coastline stretching across Pegasus Bay to the often snow covered Southern Alps, Lyttelton Harbour and wide expanses of the Pacific Ocean. Trip duration approximately 6 hours with 3 -4 hours walking time. Half day options available.
